Grew up in a small town in IL, always liked to hang around in mechanic shops of all sorts. Had a hot rod fox mini bike at 12 had the local machine shop shave the head and cut the piston skirt to the pin boss. ballance what ballance ran the tail off of that machine. Growing up in a small town had its rewards, if the local police did not like your speed, mufflers,ect they would come down to the gas station where I worked and talk it out. My first car was a 62 Impalla 2d ht a bunch of the older guys gave me parts a 283, vett 375 cam, and misc parts I had to purchase my own 12.5 to 1 trw pistons. Could not keep a rear end in that car, they were 25.00 at most salvage yards,I could eat one every weekend. It is the job of every hot rodder to teach the young guys, help them with parts when we have spares.
