I was seven years old at a book store with mom and dad and I really wanted to get a book about small engines. It was $20 and my mom was fussin', but my dad got it for me. I read it cover to cover, and in the 2nd grade I was the only kid who knew the difference between a 4 cycle and 2 cycle engine.

Fast forward seven years- I was in my first year of high school, and my best friends older brother kept me out of too much trouble. He would take me to lunch with his buddies. He had a '60 Chevy shortbed truck with a 250 six cylinder and a two barrel, and once in a while he borrowed dads '64 Ford F100, 292 and a four speed, baby blue with "let's rodeo!" in the back window. His friend had a '52 Chevy, sea foam roller brush green, and I loved that truck.

At 16 I got my old paper route money together and started looking. When I found the Galaxie I was in love. Next summer I worked at an auto wrecker who had been collecting since the '60s and he had so much crap it could make your head spin.

Those are the memories and the things that got me going.

I will not buy a new car!
