- 1930 AV8 Roadster
I always enjoyed the car hobby but as I got closer to retirement I decided that I wanted to build a traditional post war hot rod and settled on a 1930 Model A roadster. Like many I started down the path of collecting parts (way too many) and acquired a number of flatheads and all of the related drivetrain parts (1939 transmissions, banjo axles, etc.). However, just when I had everything figured out, I stumbled into a complete 1953 Dodge 241 "Baby Hemi" and thought "why not". Not long after, I stumbled into a bigger 1958 Dodge 315 Hemi that was ready to assemble and came with a few thousand dollars worth of new parts. The flathead project is now on hold while I struggle to re-design everything to accept the slightly larger Hemi which will require a stronger transmission, rear axle and beefier frame. It's been a journey of challenges but so far it has been enjoyable.Interact
