- Just purchased a partially restored '53 Chevy 3100 Truck. I also restored my old '79 Triumph Bonneville to show quality but unlike most show bikes and trucks I drive mine.

Hanging around Wilburn's Exxon in Elon. Many car enthusiasts also haung around there. Gene "Poodle" Curtis (who ran several cars at Piedmont Drag Strip. My favorite was a '58 Chevy that was unbeatable. He had many outstanding races with Ronnie Sox) worked at the station and many Piedmont Drag Strip racers such as Jack Strader, Alan Weddel (who had one of the first dragsters I have ever seen), Billy Gustler, etc. also would frequent the station. At 13 years old I was on Poodle Curtis's Pit Crew.Interact
