    inherited old Norton
ran across this website when I searched google for Norton stuff. inherited a '75 Norton Commando. all there and matching #'s, but a complete basket case. interested in a rebuild and customization. looking for insight and suggestions to help me with my limited knowledge and entertain myself while deployed. I figure 9 months is a good time to scour the internet for ideas, advice and techincal details since I can't actually touch the darn thing. The bike is competely torn down and I am ready to start planning the rebuild for when I get home. I am taking this seriously. I don't want another run of the mill bike that looks like every other commando on ebay or the same old harley. I know nothing about motorcycles, never even ridden one. I know nothing about customs as my Dad is a pure buy it or make it like it was from the factory kinda Corvette nut. I have no mechanical skills, which is not the same as aptitude, by the way, just not experienced. However, I did get the bike completely apart without a Sawzall, so I'm off to a good start. If its wood, concrete or the like I can make it work. I have no serious tools for metal or mechanical stuff, though. However, I'm willing to learn. a few "buzzwords" that I am thinking of for my project that may or may not please people on this forum and I my or may not completely know what they mean:

    bobber
    flat black
painted fenders in lieu of chrome
just enough to be legal but nothing extra
    white walls
the smallest diameter rear wheel that works without a lot of frame modifications
different carbs - easy and reliable
    easy on the pocket book
    old school
    throaty, deep sounding exhaust

am I at the right website or can anyone steer me in the right direction?
