I was a member of the Southern Nevada Timing Assn. in Vegas when many folks mentioned here were members along with Ken Black of KB Racing. I was secretary once and was when we won the award for the best NHRA car club for drag racing in '71, I think it was, when we raced at the unaffectionally known "Sandrome'. That trophy was on display at Ed Richter's speed shop. I wonder what has become of it. I have a picture of me accepting it at an NHRA event in Pomona. We also ran the drags in Jean after Stardust and before the Speedrome. No one ever hurt there! We had so much fun! I helped Slammin' Sammy Miller, rocket car guy, with his funny car Cuda which he had just bought from Don Prudhomme at Stardust! It was Don's first Hot Wheels car. Time of my life that weekend. Was friends with Sam who was from NJ as I and visited a couple of times. He was killed in an oilfield accident in Texas 2 weeks after I had reconnected with him some years ago. I am in touch with family. I drove a '69 Nova SS which was named on the driver's side Nova II Late. I raced it at the Speedrome. I need pictures of it and any of Sam Miller at Stardust as family will appreciate them as well. I helped at Lewis & Perry's shop with the Yellow Submarine AA/FA with Glenn Way and Angleo Falcone of Facetious fame. Wonder where they all are? Anyone? I became a fabricator in the Navy, when drafted, and after because of their allowance of me to help them. When I returned home from the Navy I began building signs in Las Vegas. I am a member of a car club in the Seattle area and was Pres of Classic Chevys of San Diego once as well.Interact
