Always fascinated with "old cars" - never had money for one, always thought they cost a lot. Been looking very carefully, for over a year, almost got burnt a couple times on fraudulentdeals for old cars. When I was 18 years old, paid $50 for a Canary Yellow '53 Buick Special. It had lots of bondo on it, needed 3 tires (one of the originals was okay ?) and the first really COLD DAY (we get a few in Buffalo) the fiberglass and paint all fell off in piles next to the rear quarter panels and rocker panels. I went into the AIr Force, left the car behind for Dad to sell ;-))) So, lately I saw a LOT of $17k and $20k '53 (5x) Buicks - got interested, watched a few too expensive auctions - then focused on this car in Detroit. Made the deal, went with a friend and his nice flat car trailer and picked it up. Not sure, got insurance Wed, plates today and just drove it over to the BJ's gas station. Couple questions came right up - like "do I need to add OCTANE or LEAD to the low lead gas ?) and where can I find a powwer steering unit to ADD ON to the 322 v8 ?) Just did a google search, and at this web site there is a '55 power steering unit available - I'll chase it down. . . LOVE the old car - LOVE the idea of cruising 3 to 5 nites a week - do not like the idea of sand flies along the Niagara River, Lakes Erie and Ontario - and especially DISLIKE the prospect of locking the car up from November to April each winter. . . So, I don't turn wrenches too much, already have a list as long as my arm of things to do for the next three years to get this baby up to PAR - but I really want to do it. I am open and welcome to ideas, advice, and suggestions on how to do stuff. I know I am gonna PAY DEARLY for work, but have a "friend" who has a 53 Buick frame off resto in progress now, and I am COUNTING on him to learn everything he needs to know to help my project along. We have a large Tri Five show this weekend - Sunday - gonna take my Buick for a look-see. If you were patient enough to get to this point, send me an e-mail and let me know you are there ;-)))

Good Cruising To ALL. . . Keith (RIP) Rohring
