my first car was a 1929 studebaker dictator 4dr with wood spoke 19 in wheels. drove it and a retired 56 ford highway patrol car from 1960-1964. my dad thought all car nuts were nuts and told me to stay away from them. i was grounded most of the time. i liked motorcycles too, so i bought a 1947 jawa for $50 and also a whizzer and many parts while in 7-8th grades. i bought a 40 ford coupe with 401 buick nailhead and 3 speed while in 10th grade, a 1954 lincolin capri with 317v8 with paxton supercharger. said it was raced in the carerra pan american race. bought it blowed up but complete. bought a 47 anglia in 11th grade. stored most of my collection in empty garages of little old ladies i knew on my paper routes. free papers for storage. dad found out one day and had them all hauled to the salvage yard except the 56 ford, cause it still ran. i tried putting a 54 chrysler hemi with adapter to ford 3 speed in the studebaker.
was in the army from 65-69. while stationed in germany, bought a 55 belair 2dr chevy. re-enlisted to italy, drove it there. bright yellow, rounded rear wheel wells, chrome reversed wheels, 283-dual quads, engle cam, mallory dist, home made headers, first 4 speed on post from a wrecked 65 impala, sunbeam tiger bucket seats, black interior, all tin chromed. traded a lot of cigarette, booze, and gas stamps for things for the car. orders for viet-nam so had to sign the car over to the provost martials. after viet-nam, bought a new 69 rs-ss-z28 camaro, dealer special. rare car today. got out in nov 69. returned to sheridan, wyo. went to work for cbq railroad. moved to hannibal, mo. got married to a motorhead gal. ordered a new 1970 ram-air gto. flat towed the camaro to 1/8th mile drag strips, behind the gto. moved to montana. got into dirt track stock car racing, then asphalt. moved up to limited sportsman, then late models. drifted into muscle cars, 409 chevys, 63-67 corvettes, then low riders. traded a 63 swc corvette straight across for a super slick chopped 50 ford, black with flames. kept that car for 20 years. it was in 3 movies and 11 car mags. bought dwight bonds 32 3wc mold car. traded a rust free 55 chevy w/dual quad 4 speed, 65 buick grand sport with 401 dual quads 4 speed, 65 nova ss 2dht rust free calif car with buckets, factory air, ps, pb gold for the 32. even got into flying, then back to corvettes, now road racing vintage stock cars.Interact
