(It is a perfect car for my son...alas---DMV dings, no can drive!
- 1959 - 1968 (?) Mercedez Benz Club of America, Los Angeles Chapter.
I worked 20 years in the movie/tv business. I now teach 2nd grade until I drop dead in class. Poor.
I love cars. I can'tcollect/restore.' In each of their own way, they are all so wonderful...the minds that created such works of art should be honored. Cars are art...inventive, original works of individual creativity. My father loved cars. He was a very critical prostodontist and 'things' had to be perfectly made. Even as a young child my dad would talk to me about cars. I watched and watched him, every weekend, clean and polish whichever cars he had at the time. I started helping him at a very young age.
Pop was treasurer and then VP of the MB Club. We always went on the monthly rallies (I'm very good with directions)...so much fun, and just about any Concoure D'elegance that was being given the the LA area. We knew Bud Cohn (sp.?) and Don Ricardo. Bud had one of the first Daimler/Benz made. In the early days (60's) he'd actually drive it a few yard for us! Fantastic!! Don had the most gorgeous red 300SL gull-wing ever seen. Just about every thing under the hood was chromed.
I just went on line and found so much about the Muntz Jet. I loved that car. Pop had the only one in La Jolla...PALE pink!
It had white tuck-n-roll and the bar, of course, in the back. Pretty cool for two little kids to rest their elbows on.Interact
