Bought first car in 1964. Started hotrodding in 1966 through early 70's. Took sabbatical until 10 years ago. Bought a 56 Chev sedan delivery basically done by others so I built the 38 doing all the work myself. Truck was a basket case when I bought it in March 2006 and on the road legally for the first time since 1972 on May 2, 2009. April 2012 the truck is virtually done. The truck has won a few awards at local shows and that is very gratifying since, due to too many shoulder surgeries, it will be my last full build unless they discover a way to rebuild shoulders from scratch. The only finishing items farmed out were welding the front end in, applying the paint and installing the power steering and heater. It has been a whale of a learning experience and one I'm glad I took on. I think that, if I did it, anyone can. All it takes is perseverance and a willingness to try something new.
