My name is Frank Gonzalez I am 23 years old. I grew up in El Monte, California and have lived in Baldwin Park, California for the past five years. I got into traditional hot rods and customs in my senior year of high school through going to car shows like Primer Nationals, Mooneys X-mas,etc. and through my neighboor, an old timer hot rodder( Roy Contreras)from the early fiftys. I would see him working on his hoped up 29 model a pick up and. He built that model a in his garage from the frame up. He would let me watch him work on his model a and eventually let me help him work on it. When we would go places in his model a I knew I wanted to build one of my own. I got me a 1955 ford in spring of 2002. It came with a chevy 307/350 trans in it. So I went to Citrus college for about 2 years to learn metal fabrication and body work to customize my ford. I later met Paul Winson from the LA ROADSTERS and 200mph clup. He has made a living throughout his life building,restoring and fabricating chassis, hot rods and race cars all his life. He also is an old timer hot rodder and a Bonneville,El Mirage racer. He had a shop and just wanted to finish up some projects for these customers and needed help him work on a 37 ford. So from Paul I learned a lot, from chassi work, fabricating and engine building as well also with my neighbor. Im still learning and have a lot to learn but im building my own cars im my garage with the help of Roy and Paul and learning through trial and error and am very lucky to learn the old fashion way like they did.
