Family had an auto electrical shop in N. Austin. Grew up goof'in 'round dad's shop and started help'in as soon as I could hold a screw driver. Instead of summer camp or hang'in out 'round the house, devoted my time to learn'in the family trade. Dad was kind enough to pass his home made hot rod experiences down. As everyone did in the 50's, made most stuff from what he had. Between him and an old welder who lived next door to the shop, learned how to fab most anyth'in from scratch. In high school, had a 1925 Model T truck, but never had the funds to do it justice. I could kick my own ass for gett’in rid of it. By the time I came ‘round, dad was mostly into early Corvettes. Still have some from the old days when I was a kid. Grandfather was also a big influence. He restored Model Ts. He had a '20 roadster (perfect), '26 roaster and '22-'23 C cab truck (damn I wanted that truck). Spent many weekends learning how to straighten thin tin. Used to cruise 'round Zilker in the bone stock '20 roaster....that's what I learned to drive in....
