I grew-up in the '60's when gas was cheap and cars were everything to boys. My dad had a '47 Buick we used to tinker with, but his '59 Plymouth Savoy was his jewel (foot-tall fins w/lotsa glass and no air conditioning!). I never made enough $ or time to do custom work on anything, but I fixed my vehicles until '84 when I left Texas to work for the Dept. of Defense. I have three kids in college in Austin, so I don't see me doing any custom work in the near future, but I am interested in the central/south Texas car culture.
