Hello,
I'm an easy going guy and always humbled when I meet a fellow gear head. I never assume to know the answers to everything car related question but to learn from the seasoned veterans. I learn something new every day being life lessons to Tricks of the trade.
I was always into T buckets as long as I can remember. Growing up I didn't have the bread to own such a car and hitched rides with friends to Frisco Burger in Downey Ca. durning my high school years (1988-1992). I always dreamed of owning a ride and made my dream come true 10 years later before they close it down at Frisco's.
I was solo for the first couple of years before I met some great guys, from different clubs. There was a time in the early 2000's when I was shunned from events and ridiculed for driving a Fiberglass Tbucket. What they didn't understand was the car was an original hot rod built in 1962 and everything from the Mag rims to the Hydro stick trans was original. It was built in Burbank Ca. and was garaged for years till I found it. The super rare parts alone on the "T" is what sold me. The body is a original hand laid fiberglass from 1961. When I test drove it, it over heated in 10 minutes on the road and told the gentleman, "I'll take it".
While being ridiculed for driving a "Tupperware Car" only a few knew what I had. Usually it was the guys from that era and said they haven't seen a "T" like this since high school. I enjoy talking to these guys because they showed me more and more that it isn't what's popular today but drive what you like. That is why say high and talk to people who have different rides that people don't deem "COOL". We all started in the same way and need to remember our own roots and how we started.
I met Rick ( from the Cavaliers ) and Jason Y. (another lone rider) almost 10 years ago and made me feel welcomed. I was asked to ride with them (The Cavaliers) from time to time and would meet up with them at shows. It wasn't till 4 years after meeting them, I was asked to join. I didn't feel like my car was respected enough in the community but, gave it a shot and never looked back.
I met some great (and not so great ) people but one thing remains the same. It's about the love of the cars, brother hood and camaraderie that keeps me going.
P.S. I working on a real 1923 Model T Roadster Turtle Deck. With the help of my brothers and a few great people, I looking forward to getting her done soon.Interact
