which 230/250 gear set fits i tried a cloyes hd for a 250 and it hits the timing cover
those early 3 speeds where prone to syncro problems if thats your 4 speed i would use that one

i used a bracket that was made to use with headers it mounted using the 2 front manifold bolts
yes it makes a difference it will change the brake bias unless you change the front by the same amount
have you tried powering solenoid with cable in ,in second or third gear while driving its been awhile since i drove mine but i don't think it free...

is the battery big enough try hooking up a seporate battery straight to the coil .
