Yesterbay we got one more step closer to my dream. We started by cutting the gas tank out of the cowl, no torch or plasma cutter (fumes make me nervous) with a sawzall. Then with a templetate to represent where the mill would be we started cutting the firewall. Managed to save the factory markings on the top which makes me happy. The engine is set back just a little! Exhaust is gonna be tricky, but not as rough as the pedal ***embly and clutch linkage are gonna be. Tell me what you think about header design.

    Thanks

    Marc

Progress look good. Headers shouldn't be that hard as you have 3 ports before the firewall. Just make the rear tube match the front tube in form.

Looking good. Keep up the good work and keep us posted.

  5. Thats a good lookin' mill! If your planning on headers outside the frame, how about making a neat little notch into the cowl for that last tube to p*** through? It would look right once its all together and done. Or you could angle all the tubes forward off the heads, then down and back once they clear the cowl.

kinda played with the idea of notching the cowling on the left side to clear the back tube, done right I think it would look good! Pedals atr going to be the big challenge, wanted to use stock Model A floor mounted, gonna be tight!

  8. i like your cut and shut grill, i would go with notching the body a bit on the inside (recess it a bit) that should give you the clearance you need to bend the pipe out and not have it kinked to much.

We took them off to get the engine in and then slipped em back on once we had it mounted.

i think your right, notching the cowl for the header would be the only way to go. Thanks all

Pedals are going to be tough, once we get the floor iron fitted we can start fitting them. Still wanna go with stock Model A pedals with hydraulic clutch, started laying out steering gear yesterday , gonna be kool!
