I'm probably the only one who thinks this is neat enough to cut up and use. This roof screams out to me. The glass is good. I just want the cab from the firewall to the back of the window. I'd seriously buy it if someone could cut it up and keep the rest. It's worth $500 to me. Someone should do it or help me out. That top needs to be saved in my opinion. I'm frequently wrong so don't go by what I say. It's apparently been laid to rest on a mountain side in Saugerties, NY. I'm seeing something like a Delahaye or Chrysler Atlantic Coupe...
By the looks of the door gap at the rear edge of the door, it might be hard to move and keep in one piece. looks like its drooping in the middle to me. Weren't those "flower cars" all custom built as opposed to using a cab from something. The roof might actually be one peice scabed onto the Cady body. It would be one of those things I would have to walk around and fondel before I would bid on it, just to be sure what parts I wanted were still savageabe. It is a Cool roof line though. Maybe the whole thing is an Austy Uty? Gene
Yeah, the guy basically said the car WILL break apart when you try to move it. That might be good to help get it out. I'd just want from the firewall to the back of the glass. No bed and no doghouse. I think that roof is all one piece. I just dig it.
that would be a brutal chop. but how about shortening it way up...kinda metro style, with the full hood up front and a little pick up bed on the back?
Thats a for sure flower car, the roof could be one solid sheet, or a shortened 4 dr roof, depending on coachbuilder...i fool with these things on a regular basis..and i 'll tell you first hand, they RUST BAD!!! they are built to be stored indoors, very little (if any) rustproofing is put on these, so when they are taken out of service, sold to hippys, surfers, bands etc,...they tend to fall apart quick. Sadly, that car would be a sharp ride redone, but i've seen too many in that shape just disintergrate when moved...that one will, i'll bet...now to your using its cab...how about using just the rear portion of the rear fenders(about 18"-24") grafted to the back of the cab, mounted on a handbuilt, LARGE T bucket style frame...kinda like a Flower car/ modified????....maybe use just the hood, up front, with a hand built grille...??
I've seen lots of flower cars (there is another on ebay right now) but they always look like quicky fabbed factory cut downs to me. This is the only one I've ever seen that looks like this one. Shame to let it waste. When you consider the work and cost of making a cool chop and getting glass to fit, this ain't a bad deal at $500 to make something interesting. But you'd have to have vision and some skill. Not for everyone that's for sure.

That thing looks cool, the roof really flows. I think that the roofline would look cool on a sectioned 55 chevy body. It would look like a vette on steroids. Just my two cents. Rich
that roof has a killer look to it. looking up how far it is from me. nothing like a little trip with the genorator and sawzall
Take a look at the current issue of Custom Classic Truck. Steve Stanford just did some drawing of phantom utes. Just saw it this AM. Look at the 40's Cadillac he did and tell me if that doesn't look doable.
I think it is a little too cartoonish for a custom, but it would make a wild roadster, or roadster pickup top. Wold make those cross country trips more bearable for the little woman.
It's a shame but I have seen alot of nice cars rot over the years beacause they would't sell them. Then when they are little more than scrap they suddenly decide to sell.
Alright, nobody stepped up.... So I bought a roof. Now I gotta go get this thing. Anyone out this way? Maybe I could fly out and meet somebody and knock this out in the springtime?
We found one of these in a junkyard on the South Side of Chicago!! It was there 2 summers ago along with many 50's,60's,70's cars. Unfortunately I heard that the yard was or is going to be closed down. I keep meaning to go see if it is still there, it's only about 5 miles from where I work.
http://www.rodder.com/rodpics/cruisenight/chrysler/images/12402_nitrofc_41chrysler_2.jpg The roof line looks like the one off the nitrofc Barris did. You could just try and find another 41 chrysler coupe. http://www.ephemeranow.com/images/JPGs/chr41tb.jpg This one looks even more dead on.
Yeah, I couldn't help it. I have ideas but nothing solid yet. It will probably be spring before I can even get that hulk out of there due to the weather.
Nice going. That cab is beautiful. I really like that custom trim around the door. Too bad it's so rotton. I've been looking for a flower car 51-58. 54s are not common. Maybe you and I can work something out. I might be interested in any "flower car only" parts that you won't be using.
I really like the look of that roof. I gotta hand it to you, it takes balls to jump on a project like that sight un-seen. Good luck with it, should be fun. Shaun.
If by balls you mean gross irresponsibility and stupidity, I'm usually right there at the top of the list. I know the car is a turd but I haven't seen too many cars rusted to the point where even the top wasn't useable. I'm thinking about keeping from the firewall to the bottom of the back window. There is are neat bumper and fin parts and a core 331 but I don't see using any of that. Benzine, I'll definitely have lots of parts I'm not using.
Let me know who needs what off of this thing. I've got a HAMB helper out that way that is gonna get a lot of freebies off of this too. If you need flower car specific parts and it looks like there is anything useable on here, let me know. I'm keeping the roof from the firewall to the bottom of the back window and whats's left of the doors.
