Sounds like you live in one of the deed restricted communities here in the Tampa, Florida area. Nothing but old people with nothing better to do, and you know they don't like old cars, hot rods or stock. I moved from one such area after putting up with the BS for three years. Made good money on the sale of the house and got a better deal in a nicer area. So far no one has had any thing bad to say about our cars. Good luck.
Neighbours yea i know what your saying i have owned my house 15 plus years and every year i have at least 3 run ins with the police or authorities ,ive had helicoptors over the garage, police blocking the drive ,local council measuring my garage etc the whole lot and more each time finding nothing i do or am accused of is illegal or wrong, my last instance was in august when i was accused by same person of being a trader so i said this time i had enough and that i would seek legal advice and sue so i need the name of the person , after a chat they council and tax office said forget it but WHY dont the people who make the allergations especially so many times ever get fined etc for wasting time ,But the next time they ring up they WILL be beleived and off we go again......
well the "move to the country" thing isn't as safe as it sounds. i live well outside the city limits. i can shoot off my own deck & nobody says anything. after livin out here 6 or 7 years with the same neighbors & no trouble i was visited by the sherrif. he wanted to know if i had been running the race car in the shop. yep! why? i was told that a neighbor had complained about the noise even though it was only 7 pm & i was out of city jurisdiction . i KNEW which neighbor complained. he said he could not really do anything about it but if the neighbor called enough times it would be grounds for a civil suit. really?? that neighbor's kid has an old loud*** pallet truck that he starts up every morning at 530 am.. i called the cops 3 days in a row. that led to a little "discussion" at the fence. we settled it like men right there. you oughtta hear my 10 sec chevelle bein loaded into the trailer. at***ude? there ain't a FUKKIN THING wrong with my at***ude!
I had a similar problem with a new neighbour.Everyone on the block knew I worked on cars and made alot of noise, but not after 8pm or so.This ***hole never talked to me about noise or anything. The city guy shows up and tickets me for too many unregistered cars and warns me about running a wrecking yard.I had 4 cars,2 under tarps.I was pissed so I knocked on his door to ask why he did this. Two minutes later I'm in cuffs, the ***** called the cops.I wouldn't suggest you do what I did but I got pleasure making his life a misery. After about 1 1/2 years of torture he finally moved.I didn't do anything physically to him or anything I would be caught at.Flat tires, prank calls night and day at home and at work. Some of my other neighbours backed me up when the cops showed up.I hope you can sort it out before it gets to be a really big problem
I had a few run ins with the city people through the years but the last big one was when my next door neighbor was selling her house and the realtor called the city about a couple of unlicensed cars I had in the driveway,I sold the cars in question but every sunday when they had a open house I had my friends come by and we opened all the hoods making it look like we were working on all of them and I got a new neighbor and he is a motorhead and it worked out just fine. The old neighbor did not like my cars but she could not do anything about it as she let her back yard become a jungle due to no cutting for over 10 years but she cut it down before the sale and then I had no recourse when her realtor called on me but everything is fine for now but I have a elderly lady on the next side that is not in good health so I might have another problem soon. Jeff
guy in Peoria, IL did that..... had some rental houses in the crack block area....told him they needed painted....so he painted them...bought all the oddball gallons form teh paints stores and went to town painting them....ever see a house where each wall is a different color?
Most of you guys are a lot smarter than me around the internet but heres something you may not know .The US Supreme court has deemed Zoning uncons***utional over 15 years ago! now I don't know how to trac that ruling down but it is an absolute fact someone in the midwest fought their town all the way and the supreem court rulled on it in their favor. I once had a Half page Write up from the local front page of the paper case# everything now if somebody here could research this and find that ruling it would set some towns on their ***!
I see you live in Lancaster, CA. There is a first cl*** nitwit on Usenet from that town- if he lives anywhere near you, I guarantee he's in on it. The guy hates American cars, promotes buying Japanese over USA, and calls hot rodders "neanderthals". In reality he has champagne tastes on a beer budget, cuz he drives a 79 Honda ****box. What street do you live on ? It's not near Kaylyn St., is it ? dude, you either have to keep your cars inside, or move to a more rodder-friendly area of Ca.
All I have to say is it just depends on your neighbor, I had one lousy neighbor for five years and it ****ed, my house was built in 1913 and never had a paved drive and my neighbor found out that in our city you are supposed to have a paved drive? so whenever I had a car in my drive a city inspector just happens to show up and h***le me, funny thing is I told the inspector I was going to pave it anyhow but when I'm ready to and she got tired of coming out so she suggested she give me an extension, so for about two years she just extended the period I had to pave it. It pissed my neighbor off though so that was worth it and then they moved and now I have a great neighbor, good riddance!
OK, I am a good friend of "Hips" and have known him for many years. But lets call it like it is! Hip brought this upon himself. He lives in a housing track. Anyone here knows he goes thru cars like underwear. Gets a new project every week. So a car shows up in driveway and then starts the dismantling process. 99.9% of the time the dismantle sits in the driveway into the following week. To say the least its a junkyard. Yes I know we all love our junk and I do too! But you have to be smart and clean up after yourself. Camoflage what you can. If you get busted once they will look at you from then on. I told hip that on several occasions. Also ordinace says we aren't allowed to work on vehicles in our driveway, but that has never been a problem for people that clean up after themselves. And yes all vehicles are supposed to be registered. Hip's truck he started I dont know how many years ago is still not registered, whats that tell you. Anyway knowing what you like to do with cars, you should have had the balls to tell your wife you wanna live in the outskirts somewhere so you can do what you do best. Yes, Hip's is the best at tearing down any vehicle to the last nut and bolt, even perfectly good ones! Well nuff said, stop sitting on the HAMB and go outside and clean up your ****......again! Heck be happy its only $200, I would think it would be $1000 as many times you got busted Satin
I live in the more remote part of the Antelope valley, about 30 miles from Hip. I have alot of stuff at my house, probably 30 or so cars, and tons of parts. I get messed with by the county folk when I am lazy and leave stuff in the driveway, or otherewise make it look like ****. I move it, cover up, etc, problem solved. Hip, you need to keep your place clean. And as Satin said, move to a bigger place, where at least you can get your **** into the back yard. places are still cheaper out here, and you get a whole acre to fill with stuff
The Village in Oklahoma City is the same way. A neighbor of mine got a ticket for changing his oil in his garage...with the door open. It took three running...but older cars for me to finally bring the heat down upon myself. Everyday the cops came by my house and marked the tires on any car/s parked in front of my house. They hung two tickets on my front door for cars that were not parked legally in front of my house...that didn't even belong to me...one was even from out of state (they were at a party across the street from me). I got the message and moved out of the Village. I didn't pay the tickets...and have driven around the Village for the past 25 years. First cause I figured there was a bench out for me...then just a boycote. I am sure that there was someone on my block that knew someone on the force and was able to get him to bring down the heat. Never saw anyone from code enforcement though...just this same patrolman, every day. My favorite ticket I got just before moving. I had been hit by a drunk driver and was bed ridden except for taking myself to the doctor for a treatment twice a day. One day, after getting back from my morning treatment, I had gone into bed to rest (about 5 hours between treatments). When I came out in the afternoon I had a flat tire (the car is legally parked in my driveway). On the windshield is a ticket for a derelict vehicle. My tag was good...car insured...but it was a 55 chevy in need of a paint job and a flat front tire. I have never been back to the Village...never will...and I will NEVER pay one of those tickets...screw um'.
Im sure other neighbors are doing somthing wrong. Take that to court and ask why the're pointing fingers at you.
So, i called the courthouse got the 200.00 waived by pasifying(sp) them with a makeover of the front yard. Im biulding a miny loft above in my garage to store "stuff" ,and get it off the floor. Im putting in an overhead electric lift so that my engine pulling and any other heavy lifting will be contained in the garage, and i have talked with some of the neigbors who have been stopping by to ask about and compliment the face lift to the front of my garage. I even found out one of the guys who turned me in. KEEP YOUR ENEMYS NEAR! HAPPY NEWYEARS!!!
Somebody should start a new thread on this subject; WHAT DO YOU CALL A NEIGHBOR THAT PRISUMES THE RIGHT TO HORN IN ON MY YARD, WHETHER IT'S TO HIS LIKING OR NOT, LAW OR NO LAW?? I've had some neighbors in my time that got under my skin. But I know for a fact that I've done some things my neighbors don't like either. Anybody that calls 'code enforcement' on nitpicky **** like junk cars is..........Some words that come to mind are; thumb****er... *****... nosey... *****whipped... jealous...
i had a nosy neighbor that lived behind me. he was all nice to my face but would call my home owners on me every chance he got. i sold my house to a guy who was gonna use it as a rental. last time i went by there were weeds 7 ft tall in the back yard and my old neighbor had his house up for sale !! i guess i taught him.....
I live in the country and there are a lot new homes being built. There are a lot of car guys living here and most of the people just keep to themselves and dont bother anyone. Ive been dealing with the code enforcement people for the last year. You couldnt see any of my cars from the street. There is an alley, which comes in from the back street, that dead ends on the side of my house, before it gets to the street in front of my house. The alley allows me access to my back yard and there is another house that uses the alley to get to its driveway. There are trees and shrubs along my property line in the alley. About a year ago this house sold (December 2004), and a month later (January 2005), I was contacted by the code enforcement folks. One of my friends told me that maybe a realtor turned me in. Code enforcement, the first code officer, gave me until April 15th to be in compliance. After working on my yard for several months and in mid April I had a chance to meet the new neighbors. I mentioned that someone had turned me in to the county and all outward appearances looked like they might have done it. Ive lived in the same house for 18 years with the same neighbors. We had a chance to talk, and he told me was a realtor, would never do that to anyone, he was really ethical, was a good Christian, was honest and a trusty at his church. I might have believed him if he just said he didnt do it. He also said that maybe one of the other people that were interested in buying the house probably turned us in. I thought this might be possible but several months ago code enforcement told me that I was turned in again on April 19th. My garage is big, but I cant get all of my stuff in it. What Ive had to do is, build a good size shed for parts. Our code here only allow up to eight cars on your property and they all have to run. If they dont, they have to be in a garage. I call and talk to the code guys every couple of months, just to check in and let them know how it is going, and they have been fair with me. The new guy that Ive been dealing with, in August told me he was going to send me a letter giving me until November 1st to have it completed. Then added that this letter wasnt legally binding. I called him on November 1st to let know that I wasnt done with the yard yet. He said to me, Lets wait until after the first of the year to get back together. Im close and in the next few weeks should have it in shape to be inspected. This has been one of the biggest h***les that Ive ever had to go through. I look around my neighborhood and see all kinds of infractions in more public places, than my yard. There is a 57 or 58 GMC pickup that has been sitting on the curb for eighteen years (never licensed), a couple of blocks away. The guy behind me built his dog run and fence twenty feet into county property. Neighbors all around me arent in compliance, but they werent turned in. Hopefully it will be over in a couple of weeks and I'll be able to start building some cars.
pehaps you should get a part-time job doing code enforcement, cops wives don't get tickets...get my drift?
I have a question, why doesn't anyone try to fix any of this by becoming the zoning inspector? **** man, neighbor calls the cops on ya for a wrecked car in your lawn just look at his house for a few seconds and decide that the foundation is **** and that the house needs to be demolished on his bill. Or hell, why not burn the ****in place down. The laws seem to be on the criminals side now of days...
I have to deal with this on a monthly basis. the neighbor does his rant because he can. the enforcement people say we have to come out. they are sympathetic, and say don't worry. he has a shop and there is no provisions for one in the covenants. I just wish they would move.
QUOTE] EVERY time i've dealt with a "good christian" i got ****ed over the more somebody tells me that they're a "good christian and honest", i've found that my ***hole tightens up. liars and cheats..... +he's a realtor, don't think i need to say anymore about that!
That has been my experience too. Like I said earlier, "If he had just said that he didn't do it, I might have believed him". I've talked to all of the neighbors, so everyone has been on him. Hopefully he will sell the house and make that big profit that he wanted to get. I did an internet search, for addresses, where this guy had lived. He and his wife have live at 10 different addresses in the last nine years. So I would imagine that he is about ready to sell. But what a horrible thing to do to someone.
When I went to get the permits to build my garage, the neighbour was up in arms that I was going to open a body shop. I had, the year before painted a car outside.....my car. I told her that I was going to pursue my hobby, whether I had a garage or not, so why not have it inside out of her face.....She hasn't bothered me since....That was 18 years ago.
Well I hate to respond because this is a waste of time, but I'll humor Hip this once. Hip brought this upon himself. YES He lives in a housing track. YES Anyone here knows he goes thru cars like underwear. YES Gets a new project every week. YES, you may not call them projects but you have something new just about every week. Some deal going down. They may not all be at your house but you have something going on. And theres nothing wrong with that, just clean your **** up. So a car shows up in driveway and then starts the dismantling process. 99.9% YES, I'm not talking about what leaves your hous or how much of it, ****! Every car you get that comes into your driveway ends up dismantled in some form or fashion. Name one you got that didn't get torn apart? To say the least its a junkyard. YES I'm not talking about today after you cleaned. I have one question, How many tires do you have in your back yard? Need I say more? I could ask about the inside of the house but we won't go there, unless you want me too? LOL, oh and the pomona statement.....ROFL, why don't we let desertratrodder tell us the last time you went to pomona? ROFL If you get busted once they will look at you from then on. This is true , WOW you said the truth for once, congratz YES this is true! This statement cracks me up! And reenforces what I said earlier (It tells me that i built this one from the ground up, gathered the parts piece by piece for it, and its (Was) my sons truck , who wont be able to drive for a couple more years still. ) If I recall this was a perfectly good truck which was stock and you drove from hysperia. Those were your words HIP. And yes you DID tear it apart. Am I right? Which by the way may not get done because HIP said his son doesn't want it now because he wants some other project thats coming or is there, like I said to many and I don't recall which one. What is a "perfectly good one" Troy? Well I'll name one, wasnt it a 65/66 Impala wagon with a big block that was registered and ran. But as soon as it hit the driveway he ripped it apart. True? Well nuff said, stop sitting on the HAMB and go outside and clean up your ****......again! Heck be happy its only $200, I would think it would be $1000 as many times you got busted Satin And then I ended my post. Which leaves this. If you cleaned up then you are good to go. But if it only lasts a month or so you'll be back at square one. So far I have seen HIP go thru this same senerio more times then I can even count. So anyone wanna take bets that it will happen again? I can pretty much guarantee it! My hat is off to hip if he really got a 50yard dumpster, I have told him to do that for YEARS! And he knows thats true too. Satin, over and out
man !! I didnt know I had it so good! one nieghbor around the block from me had a 46plymouth coupe and a few other old mopar's. The friend on the opposite corner from me has a vintage modified that he runs roundy-round.(35 ply. coupe)he also has a homemade tractor built from a model T and a plow! he also unloads his car and test drives it in the street. all the kids in the hood love it when he brodys the car in the middle of our intersection.
