I'm just coming off 3 weeks vacation, 90% of which was spent working on getting this 55 done. I made some pretty good progress, but it's still not running. So close though. I'll start with the boring stuff -- interior. A buddy helped me complete the cage. I had some holes to weld up in the floor. Next, I had to patch up many holes in the dash from different tachs including a cable drive. I bought some of that cheapo pre made tuck and roll naugahyde and covered the aluminum panels. I attatched them with screws and finish washers. Not too bad for a race car. I installed a Trim Parts repro carpet. That was a pain in the *** trying to cut it in around a 10 point roll cage. Kinda lumpy in some areas.
Next I installed a new timing chain and degreed the cam. I'm using a Hilborn cam driven fuel pump so I had to use Enderle's timing cover with a roller bearing to get proper cam end play. Motor getting ready to go in!
6 bolts and the front end is off. Makes the job pretty easy. Trans is already in the car and being held in by the mid plate. Like a glove!
Now it's coming together but I'm having problems figuring the best way to mount the Eelco tank and still have a function hood latch. Out back, the car has a braced Ford 9" with 5.14 pro gears and a 33x10.5 slick.
Very nice progress! Makes me really want to get cracking on my '55, though it's a ford. Looks great man!
