Finally figured out how to post pics on the board. Took me a while, but i think i got the hang of it. Here are the latest updates on my taildragger. As you know we had an informal "hamb" chop at Chopolds shop about 1 1/2 months ago. These latest pics will show you what i have accomplished since then. I have removed 90% of the paint, removed a bunch of trim, and spliced on 49 Caddy quarters. This is the first time I have attempted something as major as this...I was so hesitant and nervous, but I knew I could do it if I took my time...my girlfriend linda (41 CADDYWIDOW) helped convince me to go ahead and do it,,she has been totally behind me every time i have done any work on my cars,,i'm lucky ,,,the next thing i knew i had the whizzer wheel in my hand slicing through the original quarters,,,,,after some careful cutting and trimming, i tacked the quarters in place,,,it is amazing how good they fit the contours of the 41,,,a real natural in my opinion,,,,,,,anyway, i've been dying to post some progress pics,,this is the first time anyone has seen the car since i drove it home from the chop at marks garage,,,(except my customers at the shop).......anyway,,here it is:

I agree, I like it a lot, the skirts fit nice, and the filled quarter windows look nice too. Are you going to round off the top of the door post in back, to match the curve in the windshield? That's the only part that doesn't look like a factory 3 window.

You must work awfully fast to get this much done in this short of time. What are your plans for paint?

Nicccccccceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! A buddy of mine has a '41 and it is all bone stock no rust and looks friggin awesome. Also has a '40 LaSalle that he has been working on. I will have to get over to his place to snap some pics of them so I can post them on here for ya. Looking good. Major taildragger. KNUX! P.S. His is a fastback, not a coupe.

yes, the door frame will be rounded off,,the rain gutter will be retained as well,,it will just follow the contour of the door frame top.

    Jim,

The taillight treatment looks great! Congratulations on your mastery of welding and picture posting. Did you sell the Plymouth?

That is awesome Jim. Is this the car you sold the Plymouths for? Or is that another one? This thing rocks and it sounds like your lady does to for encouraging you to do this type of work. Both are keepers!

    Oh mannnnn...that's gorgeous...love it.

I'm now curious as to what you're going to do with that massive Caddy grille...got any plans for it, and/or the front end yet?

    Timeless beauty!
Definitely helps having a lady that understands and encourages. I would never have pulled mine together without my wife's moral support.
Thanks for letting us have a peek.
