The weather has been brutal all over, but has anybody gotten anything done...other than planning, that is?

Very slow here in Texas, we're just not set up for winter. My Vicky just sits outside under a couple of tarps, waiting for it to warm up.

    So...what's up with y'all?

I started my 54 for the first time this winter and let it run for about and hour. Its stuck in a garage with about a foot of snow in front of it. As for any work that going to wait till spring.

Almost finished with the p***enger side floor replacement, it's 25 outside, but my little heater gets the garage up to about 50-55 after an hour or two and that's tolerable...

Whoa Eric! I heard that Dallas got a load of snow- yikes. We ended up stuck for 2 more days in Florida because our flight home to Milwauke was cancelled. Normally I wouldn't complain about 2 more days in Fla, but it was 50 degrees and rain.

Not doing anything on my ride. Started her up and let her run for 20 min. on Friday. Other than that, planning.

Vein, if you could shoot some pics while putting your seatbelts in, I would appreciate it. Think I'm gonna put some in this year.

    Global warming my ***!

San Diego here.. Sorry guys, I've been riding my chopper to work- waiting for my stromberg rebuild kits to arrive. We had a little rain last week or so, but it's been sunny and warm for the most part. If we want snow, we drive to it- lol :D

  9. Just got back from getting a bunch of brackets and under hood parts blasted and powder coated. Productive day. Also working on a really cool LED conversion for the tail lights. Can't tell they're LED - but notice they are brighter.

My body is down to bare metal, the motor is at the engine shop being machined and I'm cleaning/painting the rear axle so I can put it back under the car with the new lowering blocks and push it outside to soda blast the door jambs and engine bay. I'll get some pictures when I push it outside and you can see it in it's naked glory!

I got lots new parts sitting...but working on the sled at 30 deg when you cant feel your fingers is too much like work to me. At least this is the first winter I don’t feel frustrated not being at home in TX b/c it sounds like it’s pretty damn cold there too.

Got stranded in the snow in Atlanta trying to get home from a week long business trip. This week has been piled high and deep with work as well.

I'm hoping to get my other inner fender panel mounted and a few other things this weekend.

I just started another custom 53 dash just for fun. I might use it in my 53 or show it here and let someone here buy it. I'll get some build pics from start to finish. Check out the dash in my 53 on my photo album.

I mounted the Thomas air compressor on three isolator bushings in the trunk, ordered some 316SS half couplings so I can weld them in the air tank tomorrow, found a small pneumatic regulator, popped a hold under the dash for mounting, still looking thru my stash for the air fittings, and talked with two people who might have the left and right upper grill trims that are missing on my '56. I also cut out two large area's in the panel that's between the fenders and has the hood latch to allow more air in and it dosen't block that blown hemi. For "****'s and giggles" I popped a few extra round holes in the panel to give it a little character............then I had to work on customers cars......'37 Buick.........'49 Chevy..........my daughter bought me a new camera to help me post some photo's but I come from a long line of dumb Portagee's and haven't been sucessful in getting the process to work......maybe it's old age?

  22. Well it's been pretty good with the weather down here, haven't really done much on the 52'.
The only progress thats happened is cutting out the outer rockers and inner sills on my 59 ranchwagon. Also trying to win some items on ebay for a 1936 studebaker dash that i'am wanting to use in my 32 ford pickup project.I might need to save a little more for the parts. The highlight for me last week that i had to design a pinstripe tattoo for a guy and he had it done,i coludnt belive that someone wanted my work on there body.....
thats all from down here. ps missydad let me know if that 52 coop need's a warm home down under ???? tony..

Didn't get anything done necessarily... BUT The roads were dry today and I got to take her out for about an hour. Man, that felt great! We are having a Wisconsin HAMBers lunch on Saturday and I'm hoping to take the '53 up to that too.

Lemme tell you, for as hot as that car gets in the summer, it sure was cold today! I think the heater must have dribbled out just enough heat to keep me from seeing my breath. I was cruising along in 40 degree comfort (a little chilly on the mitts).

It finaly dried out here and I got my 53 out last sat. Drove it around town for a while enjoying the smooth ride I'm getting from the new shocks and coil springs. I rebuilt the carb but it still isn't running right so I have some more work to do on that before summer. I used to make a lot of 300 and 500 mile trips in the 53 and I'm trying to get back to that again.

That's great carnut! Glad to know I wasn't the only one having fun out there.

If I can take the '53 to the HAMBer's lunch on Saturday, I'll take pics and post'em. I'm pretty sure some others plan on bringing theirs.

we've had a bit of snow in charlotte, but it usually melts off in a day or two. Luckily, the full garage gives me a nice shelter from the cold. it's given me time to work on the front suspension on my 53. took apart the knuckles and removed the pins and bushings and replaced the hacked springs from the previous owner. we're trying to build this one like johnny cash, one piece at a time. found some springs from a modern pontiac that fit the base, and when we set it down, there's about 3 inches between the top of the lower control arm and the bottom of the frame. think i'm gonna hate speed bumps.

53Vicky- cool pic! Is that your girlfriend's 59? You guys gotta be the most stylin' kids in yer school. Please let us know about your carpet kit- cost, quality, and ease of installation. Thx.

We had the aforementioned HAMBer luncheon and went to the Wisconsin Automotive Museum on Saturday. It was a big hit- 48 HAMBers, plus a bunch from a busload that came down from LaCrosse. Myself and a couple others brought our cars out. If you would like to see pictures search for the HAMB and cheese thread.

The carpet kit I used was like 150 (I think?) it fit well, surprisingly well actually, it even had a chrome ring for the dimmer switch.

I just put lucas clr 700s on my car, it makes it fit.
