Whats your favorite Rod Magazine?

Personally I think Hop Up is the best but since its only a yearly periodical I need monthly fixes too. The rodders journal is great, but again only quarterly, as well as Rod & Custom, and American Rodder (yeah monthlys)? Then there are the culture mags like Old School, Garage and others. Well what do you say?

SO Unkl Ian what do you like!

  6. I worded this EXACT same question differently a week ago and said "Hop Up doesn't suck" got me in the penalty box for a week. Are these posts necessary? Will it change what you read? Or will it yet once again open up a bitch session as to who sucks more? Let's just sit back and watch shall we. [IMG]

If you dont have anything productive to say dont say it. Plus like you said man you did this exact same post not to long ago so your one to talk about these posts being unnecessary.

im a recovering magazine junkie,,but i done with them,,all that i want is here on the HAMB..period.

  11. ROLLS & PLEATS hands down. I have been intending to pu the new TRJ. Used to LOVE "The Horse'' but find it's slid into the toilet in the past couple years. Best auto related media ever is the HAMB...

  13. Haven't seen Magneto in a while, but it was areally good mag the last time I looked through it. I like BurnOut, too...a little sparse on the writtne end of things, but very high enerrgy/enthusiasm! I'm kinda doin' like Butt...getting my fix on the HAMB...lots off informative stuff and plenty of visuals for those of us that like to look at pictures. [IMG]

  14. Here's a shameless plug for the defunct 5-6-7 Club magazine. Dave Farion was the tech editor and his 5-6-7 articles were second to none. Since that went down the hole, HAMB and R & C are a close to second.

Rolls & Pleats for quality and content, REV for it's personal feel and it's by a HAMB 'bro and WRENCH 'cause it's East Coast and I've been published in it!! I "hate" Rodders Journal because it's too nice to handle. I hate getting finger prints on the cover. [IMG]

  17. I subscribe to only two - Goodguys Gazette and Rod & Custom.

I buy American Rodder now and then.
I did pick up the new Rodders Digest and it looks like it's gonna be a good one.

TRJ when I can find it at the newstand, but around here it disappears so fast you have to be there within a couple days of delivery.
The $12. that TRJ costs may seem high, but it has enough material in it to compensate for the price.

The photography is something else as well.

Playboy only for the tech articles

  19. TRJ, Hop Up, Rolls & Pleats, Garage... Burn Out magazine from japan is pretty funky!

I like CK Deluxe too, but I don't know what it is with the pics... The printing quality... Something is wrong with it... When it was HR Deluxe it was better.. But no offense, still a nice read!

The one that's in the mailbox when I get home from work cause chances are there will be a article or two I like and a car or two I'll dig.

  24. Since someone else has mentioned it WTF is with those BAD photo's in CK deluxe, also The Horse has the same SHITTY image reproductions... I had a copy of Burnouts a couple years ago and would love another.
The photo is just because I like old cars and needed to add one to this post. Indeed a rusty pile...

I've been enjoying Street Rodder for the past year or so.

There are a lot of billet manufacturers advertising there, but that helps pay for some good content. There's some good hands-on how-to stuff, plus they carry a regular piece by Ron Covell.

Sodbuster, I know this is a really dumb question, but tell an old guy like me where you find magazines like Roll & Pleat, Shop Rag, Magneto, etc. Thanks, Jim

Definately Rolls & Pleats. Besides that, whatever has anything good. Street Rodder hides good hardcore stuff in there sometimes as does R&C, who has been doing better lately as far as features. Usually though, primedia all share the same tech articles so you can't buy for that.
I got that Rodder's Digest with the flat blue deuce on the cover (wicked effin' chop [IMG]) and it looks promising.
