Hey anyone know where I can find some 13 inch steelies? My buddy is building a bomb styled 51 chevy truck and he wants to run 13's. I heard corvairs and chevy II's came stock with them. Will those bolt patterns fit, and anyone know If anyone repops them. Any help is appreciated, thanks

  2. Yes, early Corvair's did come with 13x6 wheels. They were 4 on 4 1/2 as far as bolt pattern. This is a bolt pattern used by a lot of 4 bolt RWD cars like, MG,Datsun, and Toyota's.

  3. To ad, I dont think I know of any 5 lug 13 inch wheel's. Early Ford 6 cyl. Falcons came with 13's that were 4 lug 4 1/2 bolt pattern also. The later 5 lug Corvairs were 14 inch. You might want to talk to some of the guys that make custom steel wheels. But you might want to also think about brake clearence. I hope this helps.

early to mid 60's mopar a-bodies also came with 13" steelies. however, the bolt pattern was the rare 5x4.0 ... the nice thing about these wheels though, is that mopar guys tend to give em away for free... everyone wants a 4.5 bp...

The Vega used a 13" wheel, can't remember the B.C. Search on Google and see what comes up.
Don't know if you give a **** or not but the scrub line gets iffy when you throw small wheels on a car or truck that originally came with 15 or 16" wheels.

65 to 67 Chevy II, and 65 to 69 Corvair both came with 13" 5 lug wheels with a Chevy bolt pattern. I don't have any though.

    I like bombs.

Not sure exactly what look you're going for, but you can get sets of 13" wire wheels for like $200, and if you just want to snap a spinner hubcap over the top, you might be able to do that right over the wires. I'm not real big on the look, but 13's really do give a lowrider-y look.

Guys weld 15" rims onto early 16" centers all the time, I don't know why you couldn't weld a 14" center into a 13" rim to make your own set, and then you'll have a little control over the offset. I know I have at least one set of OG '64 Chevy 14 inch steelies laying around, and I'm sure there's a HAMBer who could true them up and weld a set up for you.

There's a historical precedent for 13" wheels on cars before "bomb's" used them.
Harley Earl's "Y Job" and "LeSabre" prototype factory-custom-show-personal-drivers ran 13" wheels with huge baloon tires.
They are what made those Corvette size cars look so big, visually, in photographs.
If you want a car to look bigger than it actually is, put smaller wheels on it, and if you want to make it look smaller put bigger wheels on it. (or dubs if you want it to look rediculous)

Just look to the aftermarket for wheels that fit your bolt pattern.

I ordered some from an ad in the back of Circle Track. Any width, offset, center hole. I got 13x5.5 and 15x8. They are flat face with 5 tapered spokes, so not overly pretty. I tried to hid the fact with magcaps and trim rings. There was another ad for aluminum ones but he was reluctant to sell for street use. Probably would have been fine on my 1500# car.

Won't help you but if someone needs 13" Ford wheels some early Econolines had em. (5 on 4 1/2)
