I dig all the pos cars that show up, makes my POS look all that much better!

I know I had fun, it seemed like a great party, but then I was across the street most of the time.

I don't get all the mofo's revving thier motors? WTF?
one poo poo head floated the valves in his 6cly for a whole minute untill he lost his coolant. then he jumped out of his car and claimed victory .
what did he win besides the right to tow his car home?

Went to the show, didn't takea car as I couldn't get away from the shop intill 11:00 and knew there would be no chance of gettin in. Looked like they turned away a lot of cars. Some neat stuff there and a lot of junk. disappointed not mor street rods. Irwindale Speedway would be a good place. Lots of parking. It's a good show and would hate to see it stop. Noticed also that it seemed a little out of control at times. Some guys all you have to do is add a couple of beers and you get an instant asshole. Ddid any of you guys notice the 1963 (1964?) red and white Ford Fairlane For Sale up in the corner for $3000 and the gal that was with it. Both nice.

you guys wanna know why the mooneyes xmas party brings more piles of shit cars than any other show in the u.s.? because a lot of the owners live near by and thier cars can make it to whittier...even when 99% overheat they wont get hot until they are within a couple of miles from the show. these cars cant make it to VLV,PRIMER NATIONALS,OR BILLET PROOF!...its too far!

Axle is definetly right most of these cars would not make it 15 miles out of East LA. but most of the shitboxes I saw had young guys that obviously didnt have much money still putting a car on the streets (if they should or not). they have an excuse and are doing what they can with what they have... the fucker with the fake rust on his plastic car has no excuse.

back when they had the party at moon there were always way more chevels and novas than model A's and T's so dont go thinking this event has "changed" plus the last time I looked in the Moon Catalog they make in Taiwan chromed parts for VW's and Astro Vans too...

I agree-I really like the shape of that car. You wanna paint fake rust, buy a model kit or something! One day, our rides will be finished, man-all in due time...:D

  14. Okay...I didn't go this year because my ride's having some body mods done.Anyway,I wouldn't want to drive something with exposed metal and four shades of primer(been there done that),that my choice! But didn't this hobby/lifestyle start out pre-war racers, coachcraft builders and those shadetree wrenchers that wanted the speed, safety and most of all style...? I've worked on my car with no budget, low budget and paid as I go,but I NEVER built a POS ride to make next weekend's car show! There's alot of hacks out there.....There's alot very cool and creative home built ideas too....but I gotta bitch now...when I see a roadster so channelled that the guy loses his oil pan and the rear tires look like King Kong's earrings...I got to laugh and pick myself off the ground and ask why.Duct tape and bailing wire are for emergencies only...not for style....
Does anybody remember the FREE Rat Fink Xmas party in Fullerton?:D

  15. Wow, lots of posts on this! I noticed that while many people defended the guys with the dumpster escapee cars right to have them, nobody on the HAMB said one of them was theirs. Whatever those things were, the sure weren't HAMBer cars.

Shucks, I'm proud to know youse guys.

WOW.... I really feel bad for you guys ... You HAD to go to a "party" in 70 degree weather, and look at a bunch of old cars, and some of them sucked, compared to your trophy winning classics.... SHIT.... I am glad I stayed home and shoveled the driveway..... LUKESTER

i think the biggest problem is that most of the shit boxes that are coming out of the wood work are mini truckers that are jumping on the band wagon and think that its kool to do the same shit they did to there nissan hardbody to a t or a. just my 2 cents

The Mooneyes X-mas party is SUPPOSE to be and car showing with the main focus as and art show to raise money for charity. but it seems to have turned into a car show drunkin primer fest of 4 doors, and the I can build a rat rod. I'm sorry for the negative comments and hope to not offend anyone but I drive from kansas to go to this thing, and what I see is a decline every year in nice hot rods and kustoms to more less quality rat rod and black primered cars with red wheels. And I cannot believe the way the parking lot looks after everyone leaves, beer cans and bottles everywhere, trash just thrown on the ground, this type of no respect doesn't happen where I'm from nor do i see it at the texas shows . I love drinking beer like everyone else so don't take me wrong on the drinking, just have more respect for the show producers and pic-up after yourselves, cause it does make all of us look bad. just my 2 cents from kansas and I'm PROUD to be from the midwest !

i am one of very few on here to not only remember but attend the OLD rat fink parties that were in fullerton off of state college. those were the days of kenneth howard , ed roth, franco, etc. you'd be lucky to see a dozen cars.
i remember some of the chislers now choppers there.
bottom line is this. you would think people would have enough sense to park their shit piles outside and leave some room for real cars...thats the way it was in the old days... according to larry watson....."you knew if you had a front row car" !

yeah like i said it is all these mini truckers that are used to truck runs and what not where it was all about getting drunk and causeing as much trouble as possible. so they have just moved over to the kustoms and hotrods and now think that it is ok to do the same. my 2 cents

  25. Yeah...as far I remember those old rat fink parties were by word of mouth, the shop was tight quarters and if you didn't watch where you were going, you could smear a fresh pinstripe job right across a nice ride!

Almost NO relation other than the name. Was there too, prefer to leave those memories intact. Wasn't about cars, those old parties were a celebration of art and striping.

For anyone that was at the original R.F. parties, "where" in Fullerton were they? (No prize, just seeing who else really went.)

They were in those row shops- brown stucco with the front door on one side and the big roll up door on the other. West of where we work by the railroad tracks, right? Been a long time and I just followed the directions. That was back in the days when I could talk my wife into going to car stuff with me- the last time was when she was pregnant for the first time- after that the car stuff was just for me.
