Anybody run a hydralic clutch. I'm thinking about a hydraulic cylinder and not the throwout bearing. If you have - mayby some pictures or what type or part number of the cylinder. Thanks
Never mind I just stopped over to 'OLSKOOL RODZ' and found this post Really good idea I think. http://olskoolrodz.com/forum/showthread.php?p=672843&posted=1#post672843
You might also take a look at my Victoria build thread for a different, but similar, solution to the problem.
Do you have a stock set up now with stock engine or do you have a modern engine ? I have also looked at the same set up you are talking about but found that a standard Ford quadrant & cable set up from a Mustang will be easier and cheaper to do than the hydro set up . Just a thought . Jim
Jim, still running the 216 inline 6 but put Clifford headers on it and there is no room to hook-up the old stock linkage. Missysdad, I must be looking in the wrong area - I saw your thread about buying the 53 but only saw where you replaced the crossmember Thanks guys
Sorry... The complete and up to date build thread is part of this Social Group, not the main board. The one on the main board is very old and incomplete. 1952 Victoria Build-Up Part 1 This is the link you need.
I got a hyd clutch in my 56. Love it so far. Using a wilwood remote reservoir master and a slave from a pickup. The hardest part of it all is the bracket setup for the trans but i was lucky enough to find an aftermarket one that bolted right on and aligned everything were it needed to be. The other hardest part was bleeding it, what a mother, but smooth as ****er now.
easy there , I am all about sharing. The only reason I didnt is because I am using an aftermarket transmission designed for street/strip and the bracket is designed just for it. Its a TKO 600 transmission made by tremec. This is where I got mine http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=92150 I used a compact wilwood master cyl with a remote reservoir 3/4" bore. Many people also use a CNC one like this http://cnc.carshopinc.com/product_info.php/products_id/13667/711-3/4 The slave cyl I am using came with the bracket I bought and is made to fit with the bracket and trans clutch fork I am using, so that is not going to help much unless your using the same one I am. However if you want to know the slave is part # Wagner F124279 and fits a small isuzu pickup if I recall Then I just used a longacre 2805 hydraulic clutch line kit from summit which includes the braided hose and connections between the clutch and slave. You just have to measure distance and pick a cable length. If your using a different trans, try google with the trans you have. I know there are people making them for other ones like T5's here http://dazed.home.bresnan.net/test here is some more reading for you, like I did mine http://www.midnightdsigns.com/Mustang/HYD%20Clutch.htm
Haha....just giving you a hard time. Thanks for the info. I'm still running the stock 3 on the tree so I'm sure nobody's making a hydraulic bracket slave bracket for that. Good thing I have a mechanical engineer/machinist at my beckoned call! He makes my life very easy.
I knew you were, we just having fun here. I should have been more specific but thats why I didnt elaborate much because most here are not running my type trans. But common trans like T5's and stuff, people make em. The hardest part is the bracket, if you can fab or have fabbed a bracket to mount the slave and align the slave rod with the clutch fork all is good. Would take some trial and error but someone who knew what they were doing (not me) could do it. The rest is pretty simple, except getting the master push rod attached to the clutch pedal. It has to be in the correct position/height on the clutch pedal to give you the correct pedal effort and correct amount of throw. I learned a lot from this guy, he talks about what I mean here http://www.fordmuscle.com/forums/transmission-articles/481776-hydraulic-clutch-cl***ic-ford.html
