http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/45-L...021446163QQcategoryZ33696QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Alot cheaper than the catalogs. Anyone have any experiences good or bad with these kits?
I don't think the ones that Jeepers posted are Autoloc ones . . . . Doesn't look like Autoloc makes a 45 lb. version. http://www.thehoffmangroup.com:16080/Autoloc/search.l***o?partno=SL I too am interested in the eBay ones . . . Autoloc's single door 50 lb kit w/o remote is $100!
that looks pretty tasty. let me know if you end up getting it. im still not sure if santa is bringing me a kit yet so, if not, ill look into this one. is this a one time auction or is this guy selling a bunch of these kits?
I bought a shaved door handle kit from Summit Racing about 8 years ago for my '59 Cadillac...It works great! Just checked their catalog and they still carry the same kit...cost about $125.00 for everything, plus having the piece of mind that it's from Summit so if anything goes bad, you can send it back to them easily.
Make sure this is what you want and check this guys feed back. My brother bought some stuff from him and got screwed. Ive seen some good deals from but after reading his feedback ill p***. Just my opinion Dave
Cheap but the feedback ain't so good. Also, I seem to remember hearing of Fat Rodder as a trouble seller on eBay.
A few months ago, a friend of mine (senior31 here on the hamb) bought some parts off ebay from this guy. Paid right away with paypal. It took 6 to 8 weeks to get the parts (they were supposed to be in stock) . He would call them to see what was going on, and all he got was the run around and nasty at***ude from the people. When he did get the parts, the quality was not that good....most of the time, it pays to pay a little more
I dont know anything about the guy but considering the amount of business vs. neg. feedback, it is really not that bad. A lot of the neg. stuff was on $3.00 parts.
alot of people recomemd the spal kit because you donr need relays (theyre built in) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SPAL-7-Chnl-Shaved-Door-Handle-Kit-40LB-BRAND-NEW_W0QQitemZ8021678352QQcategoryZ6763QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem i dont know about the seller but its a good product
those are fine and dandy if you feel like paying that much for all that..personaly i cant see myself using a key fob to open my doors, much less paying $100 for some 'noids and wire..the biggest part of most "kits" are the 'noids or actuators or the brains if you're going with a remote setup.personally,i'd rather build my own and say that it's TOTALLY custom, but that's me.it IS custom so it's whatever YOU want..i just cant see paying more than $5 for some 'noids myself.look em up on ebay under "power door actuators" or just "power door"..tons of em with shipping being more than they'd cost at a pick-n-pull creepy
So how do you actuate them? As for the ebay link I posted- I don't know that guy, I just posted it as an example. I was wondering if anyone knew a standup seller on the 'bay that wasn't a con artist...
If you go to the Ebay stores and type in Fatrodder's he has the best deals on the kits that I have found, not to mention awesome prices on electric antennas for the frenching.
Hey jeepers dont you own a 62 chev?? I got a 63 and was thinking about going for the shaved look, just wondering what size bits your getting????
I have to agree with you. I have shaved a few doors in my day and have never bought a kit to do it.I can spend some quality time at the local junk yard and get enough noids or "screw motors" as the newer ones are called to do several projects. I prefer hidden ****ons to remotes, simply because you always know where the ****ons are and you cant leave them in the car with all the windows closed. dont ask me how I discovered that one. I usually run a 70's gm hood cable from the latch up under the inner fender in case of battery failure.
yeah, the other good thing about making your own setup is that you can rig it all up with a key switch if you want, which is what i'm wanting to do,stick a keyswitch on either they firewall or behind the grill or something so when you know you wont be coming back to the car for awhile you can turn the key and know you're car's locked.plus you'll have to figure out a back up route anyways so might as well do your own.i'll probably be doing a knob hidden somewhere to mechanically open it instead of electronically..just dont use either method (****on or pull) too much in public because it just takes someone ONCE to see you do it to know how you got in your car..which is where the keyswitch would be a good idea methinks creepy
The guy I bought my system from user name was hotrodaccessory, only deals in autoloc, 100% positive feedback
