Who is running a small Alternator on there hotrod. I need a small Alternator for my Sedan project. I have tried some small ones but they have not worked. It has to have a v-belt pulley also. I am running a pertronix ign system and maybe a radio, thats about it...

If you have a small one, can you tell me the dimension from the center of the pulley to the back of the housing and what Amp it puts out.

Look for one off a late 70's toyota truck. I seem to remember those being pretty small, and having a v-pulley.

thanks for the tips.... anyone else actually running a small alternator on one of their hotrods. could really use some measurements. (you know how the local parts stores are nowadays. they want to know ever option on a car before they can find the part of the shelf....)

  7. Try a Pinto alternator.

Not as small as some of the Japanese cars, but availability is excellent and price is reasonable.
$37.00 for the factory rebuilt one in the pic.

My old man is running a very small one low monted on his sbc. I believe it is a Nipondenso from a forklift:eek: . No charging issues, no accesories either (32 roadster). I will try to find a p# for ya.

Mitsubishi. 1990's I think. It wires like a GM. This one came with an adjustable pulley for belt width. I'm not sure of the amps but must be over 40. I got it at the local alternator shop for about $90.00. It came with a wiring pigtail. I'm still fabbing up the mount on the stock generator mount. So far it lines up real good.

I'm building a trike with a SBC, and I am using one from a Geo Metro. You can get them off ebay which are already converted to 1 wire hookup.
