Following this - I need to swap out the 4.10's for something a little more highway friendly. Looking for a bolt in swap - Anyone????
Here is some info that may help. I'm swapping out my 53 with a 64 1/2 Mustang rear end and it seems to be going right so far. Original Vehicles Rear Suspension Width (Flange to Flange) 49-58 Ford Car = 57-58" Rear Axle Measurements MEASURED ACROSS WHEEL MOUNTING SURFACE 56 1/2" = 71-77 Ford Maverick 8", 57" = 71-74 V-8 Mavericks 8", All '75-77 6's & 8's Maverick 5 Lug 8", 49-51 Ford, 57-59 Ford 9" 57 1/4" = 64 1/2 - 65 Mustang 58" = 78-88 Mid sized GM Car, Malibu/Monte Carlo (82 up Metric Studs), 80 Granada & Lincoln Versailles, 67-70 Mustang/Cougar/Fairlane, Regal with 10 bolt axle, S-10 P.U., 65-67 Nova 58 1/2 " = Ford Grenada
Here's my contribution: 1952 Victoria Build-Up Part 1 There is a Maverick installation how-to bit in this thread. It's not a bolt-in as the pads need to be changed, but otherwise it's pretty close. Even the emergency brake cables are compatible. I did not use the original Ford drive shaft so I don't know what you'll need in that department. The Maverick rear end is a little bit narrower than the original, but that makes changing the rear wheels a bit easier and allows you to run a little deeper wheel. Good luck!
Awsome build missysdad1! Thats alot of help! and ray i have been looking for those numbers for a while! thanks again guys, hope i can return the fav oneday!
I have a 66 Mustang 8" rear I will be swapping into my 55 Ford and looking to do the same for my 49 Ford too ! I was told the rears in the 55 Ford were a Dana rear and show hold up well but will see how much it will hold up when I put a cammed up 302 with a C4 in mine . Jim
