:D :D After readin' Fat Hack's controversial post 'bout 'Big Business', and the rod industry and fixed or rigged shows and trophys, I got ta thinkin' 'bout somethin' I read whilst sittin' on the throne today...'Are we, the rodding masses, being mislead by 'Corporate America' and payolla? I plead my case...'yer Honour, I was just sittin' there readin' my July '05 issue of R&C (page 12...'Up Front'...by Jim Aust) when it smacks me right in the face! The alleged suspect(JimA) says, and I quote:..."I was lucky if I had enough time to wash my car once a month and put a battery charger on the Model A so I could move it around my understanding 'LANDLORD' Rich Guascos driveway (thanks Rich!)...excuse me...but wasn't Rich Guasco chosen as an entrant for the Ego-Rama competition? Hmmm...also...(in my best Peter Sellers voice), wasn't the lovely and seductive Hotrodladycruzer and the alleged perpetrator (JimA) exchanging niceties in Fat Hack's post on an alleged 'large box of cookies' missent to R&C corporate headquarters on JimA's behalf?...AHAAA!! Your Honour, I rest my case!:p :D

  2. No conspiracy Larry, the world just revolves around the HAMB!;)

  3. Larry, you do a great Inspector Closeau but perhaps you've had too many Coronas. Corporate America would never be involved in anything tawdry or salacious. They are beholden to the highest form of critique - their loyal customers. CEOs, FEOs, hell the whole damned executive board would never sully their staunch adherence to proper ethics and betray the trust of the American public for the sake of a few dollars or the "Good Old Boy" network.

I have complete and total faith in corporate America. I've also been to known to have had peyote slipped into my drink on occasion.

Oh, and by the way - thanks ever so much for the visual of you on the crapper, jeans around the ankles. With that picture in my head I may actually LOSE weight this holiday season!!

:D Close Larry, but no cigar. :D
The post in question concerning the cookies was authored by JimA, not Hack and it was regarding the cover of the R&C.

To clarify, I actually have a good friend, a HAMB lurker, who the box of cookies was mailed to. There was plenty to share with his co-workers, which I honestly thought would be JimA as well as others. Those cookies were equivilant to a hand written thank you note of times past. My little way of thanking the staff for all their hard work.

After reflecting on it, I guess I should have brought cookies along........

Denise: (with cookie in hand out stretched) "So Kevin, WHO had the fastest 1/4 mile time"
Kevin: (accepting the offered cookie) "Why you did of coarse Denise"

    one hour later:

Denise: (with cookie in hand) "So Jim, WHO had the shortest breaking distance today"
JimA: (accepting the offered cookie) " Why you did of coarse Denise"

and it could have continued all week.........if only I had brought cookies.......

The cars in the Ego-Rama were voted in (always have been)- and I'm hoping Rich will be voted in again next year with his '32 Coupe. It's great having people you know in these deals, but met some great new people like Corey and Jack who are also HAMBers. Had already met Denise and her dad before I was at R&C and they were legally voted in as well. It would be SOOOOO much easier for us to just invite 6 of our friends, and I will admit I was thrilled when Rich did come in pretty high in the votes despite a lack of an internet brotherhood adding to his vote tally.
Can we expect to see an new HAMB faces in the running next year? Are you already going for sympathy votes Larry?

Knowing you guys bathroom schedules and my involvement in such activities is something you could perhaps keep to yourselves. Thanks ;)

Another point to ponder? Why would Hack have Bob Denver of Gilligan Island fame as a Avatar? :D

This is an amazing thread.I now have images of 2 happy HAMBers on the throne.
One I am forced to look at almost daily, and the other is a ghastly image conjured up in my mind that is liable to disturb my sleep for months:eek: ,ney, years:eek:  .
Oh my God the "Freakish Images"and the "constiperacy theories"how will I ever be able to purge these from what's left of my meager amount of grey matter:eek:   ?

I shall certainly have to speak to my therapist about more, better medication or perhaps an elective frontal labotomy!!!? "By God"

Super necrotic thread bump powers, ACTIVATE!!!

  28. ...........................Geez, who bumps a 9 year old thread back up? Oh a newbie who just joined up today. Well it was a fun thread with the emphasis on was! Just think how things have changed in 9 yrs. Denise is low -profiling it, Larry hasn't changed, at least not for the good, but we wouldn't have it any other way, and Jim, where has he disappeared to? I know he and Ryan apparently reached an agreement of sorts and he left "active duty" on here, went through a rough personal patch, moved a few times, but what is he up to now? Just my musings, do hope everyone is well, and once again, who bumps a 9 yr. old thread back up !

Conspiracies happen all the time. It is after all not difficult for people to get together and plot stuff in closed rooms. Most conspiracies have limited reach, however, and don't involve a lot of people; and they certainly aren't co-ordinated in any way with other conspiracies.

There have been big ones, though, and it all comes out in the end. Many of the most persistent theories concern conspiracies that are clearly redundant once you understand structural aspects of things: no conspiracy is necessary because the system in question is going to do that anyway.

For instance, I've had some insights on how product standards are developed. It is probably to be expected that the "Captains of Industry" who have the spare resources available to sit in standards committees are going to see the matter from the viewpoint of the basis on which they operate, and so develop standards that define "doing it properly" as a method that is far more easily achievable for themselves than for smaller, more flexible competitors, without the thought actually consciously arising that this is a way to outlaw half the competition and thus gain market share.

  30. Wow, back from 2005 !!!
