i always like the firewall the same color as the body and the inner fenders black.
Doesnt look too good when they paint the whole engine compartment black imo.
    goodluck

X2 on painting the firewall body color, inner fenders etc. in semi-flat black.

I'm on board with the Foose "jewelry box" concept where the engine compartment is kept intentionally plain so that the engine itself becomes the "jewel".

This means no stickers, gee-gaws, shiny parts, etc. on the fender wells, firewall, etc. which would detract from the motor itself.

I also like the idea of running the wiring in hidden locations and mounting the coil, ignition box, relays, etc., etc. on the inside of the firewall. This requires a false inner firewall to attach these things to so that the bolts, screws, etc. don't show in the engine compartment.

There's a thread on the main board about neat engines and engine compartments which has lots of examples and lots of ideas.

All I can say is, tuck and roll. I'll be painting the firewall body colour, and when I get the trunk done, I'll have inner fender block off panels, and a few other panels, made for the engine bay. It just depends on what you're going for, I'm shooting for an early 60's semi-custom, which is why I'll have a ton of seemingly pointless stuff done.
