Was there a Mercury v8-60 motor? I didn't think so, I am just at work thinking of wierd shit.... wouldn't it be cool if there was? One with a "baby" stroker crank....better cam grind...etc....lol
Don't believe they made one for mercury. It is a heavier car and the 60 was to small for the fords. I have a Simca engine made somwhat off the 60 patent. I have been told they used the crank from it to build a stroker.
You were right thinking they didn't use one. They did put it in both Ford cars and trucks from '37-'40.
I believe the early French Vedette V8 60 were ther same as the american engine then later on they enlarged the V8 60 to 85 hp the same as the "big" flathead.
FYI: those simca stroker cranks for the V8/60 are available down here in Brazil, as they used the french based V8/60 here since the mid fiftys until mid sixtys when the OHV engine came out. there was a 112hp version of the V8/60 here. was a special 2 carb version for the simca "ralley"
I can figure it out...(gotta dig in my papers here) If I remeber correctly...the Simca block is a taller deck height, and the rods are the same length as ford V8/60. I do know that the pistons are flat-top design. I will dig up the spec.s and post here as soon as I know for sure. James
