Hey guys, need a little help again. Been trying to get the vent windows rebuilt so I can install them in the '56. Got the weatherstripping from Steele Rubber products and all is going fine until I get to the straight piece of weatherstrip that goes on post. Looks like there is 423,628, well more or less, rivets holding in the 12" piece. I don't know how to gain access to install the piece. Anybody do this and have any suggestions?

    Thanks for your help

Steve,I did this a few weeks ago and yes it is a bear!

I ended up using a vise to hold a blunt nosed round punch against the female part of the rivet and having a ***istant hold the frame I used another punch and a hammer to and whacked the male rivet in place,,,

After dropping the rivets more than once it took about and hour to secure all twelve rivets,,and a lot of swearing!:D

Hey, thanks for the replies. I figured out how to do it. My wife held the frame while I did the tapping of the rivets, first with a center punch then with the round end of a ball pean hammer. Got the vent windows ready to go in. Now I need to remove the roll up window. Read the pages in the manual on how to do this, but it appears the windows are really "Stuck". Old paint and I do not know what all. Any ideas on how to get them out?

Thanks for the tip on how you did them ! I haven't done mine yet but will definitely keep this way in mind !
I will also check out one of my many green books to see what they have to say . I am wondering if there was a special too that was used to replace them ?

Well, I did it. I got the roll up windows out. By taking the clips out that hold the rollers in. One other thing. The screws on the front and the one right behind the window handle can be unscrewed, which will allow the vent window frame to be removed.
Now all I have to figure out is how to get the rubber weatherstripping to fit. New from Steele Rubber. Thinking about soaking in Amsoil so it is slick enough to get to fit.:)
