For you guys that don't know willysbill he's no slouch when it comes to building a vehicle either. For him to complement Pex on his build is indeed great praise.

i've been trying to make room in the shop by finishing up some neglected projects but have managed to get the grill insert welded where it needed it and blasted. pics when done.

got a little done-i had a gas tank that came off a different project a couple years ago and even while i think the design is goofy i had it so i used it and since i was at it i mounted a trailer hitch. [IMG]

been working on the engine and trans to install as well as steering and brakes. used a hanging style pedal from a 72 chev 1\2ton that i shortened up, this put the master cyl on the firewall. the grill hides it and it will be easy access. i shortened up a tilt gm column and if my parts guy would have ordered the right u-joint the steering would have been done. i also removed the key and shifter from the column. donn- the gauges fit the holes. i'm thinking only the first series trucks use a spacer ring. the ford holes are 4 3/8 and the gm ones are 5in. i like the cl***ic gauge sets with electrical senders,it makes it easy to hook up when the engine is behind the cab.

so i strapped on a set of nuts and decided to use the 327 that i built for the 56 gmc. its a engine i had in a 36 chev i sold to my older brother. he changed it out and since i told him when i sold him the car if you ever change the engine i'd like it back, it came back. i had it bored 30 and the crank turned 10 and 10. i bought a set of patriot 202 alum heads and have it ready to go. yesterday i installed the dampner, flywheel and 400th trans. today i hope to finish mounting it in the truck. when i get this done i'll post some pics.

So how long is that drive shaft going to be? It really looks short in the picture. Sure looks good sittin' there.

its about 20in. i'm going with a slip joint style. picked up a few odds and ends, roller rockers, rocker covers, header paint, header collectors etc. if i don't smarten up i'll have to get a full time job. i've collected stuff for this truck for years so its surprising to add up what i've spent so far and realize how little i have in to it. lots of elbow grease, some good trades and good luck. picked up a seat at the wreckers today for 40 bucks. fire in the hole this weekend. got the headliner and rear gl*** in.

Greg, I don't recall what you are going to do about a bed on your COE. What are your plans and how do you think you will cover the engine? Have you figured out how you are going to run coolent tubeing to the radiator?

probably ambitious but i have a hard on for something like this. i'm going to run exhaust pipe for cooling lines. [IMG]i have a model A speedster i'd like to haul around. been riding harleys for years and cut my hand real bad about 3yrs ago and can barely hang on for very long so roadster time although i just paid for another years insurance on my scooter. been sneeking up on things- she's tax time so i'm broke, yea i know **** it up princess. anyhow the grill wasn't as straight as i first though so i've got way to much time into it but it sure has a better shape to it. the headliner is some wild but what do you get with a hole ridden cardboard headliner,a 8 dollar mexican blanket and a can of glue. the seat was 40 bucks at p&p so counting the sound deadener i've got under 200 bucks into the interior and i know your thinking it looks like it.LOL [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

picked up some metal so i can start on the skirting for the decking,i'm thinking of making the deck skirt tilt independently so i can still get to the engine or change a tire . i really like the look of the one piece fender-fender skirt. i dug out a pair of teardrop fenders from a 47 ford 1/2 ton i had and i'm going to use these. i have also just about finished the grill.i'll post some more pictures soon. greg
