Does anyone have a part number for the frame to caliper flex hose on the above application? My six year old conversion sprung a leak yesterday. I purchased the kit from DC Drop N Stop, but was never too crazy about the hoses they furnished. How about a banjo bolt type for the Grenada calipers? Seems to me it would work better.
is this what your thinking of youd have to get the right bajo bolts http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/STAI...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
Most cities have places that can make hydraulic hoses, look them up in the yellow pages and take them your old hose they can probably make one that is better quality. These are also a good place to take your old metal fuel and brake lines to have them replaced as they have the special bending tools to duplicate them, usually cheaper than ordering them from specialty suppliers.
Why don't you just measure the length of the hose and go to Ford and get one there or just about any good auto parts should carry some good quality brake lines . I am not sure what was wrong with the ones you got from D&S or why you want to charge the style but a common line from Ford should serve you very well . If not try a Goggle search to see if you can find someone that can make you a new line . You can also get some good quality braided brake lines through many street rod parts companies . Jim
BRODIE I used a 7/16 x 24 tpi single banjo bolt on my disc conversion. It is an earl's piece # 977522. This bolt and appropriate hose works well and places the hose at right angles to the caliper rather than facing the front of the car. Sorry i can't find the number for the hoses but, I bought them from Napa. I had to machine a bit of the "lip" off the hose mounting area of the caliper.
he might have experienced the same thing i did. you have to make sure the line out of the caliper dont go over and hit the sway bar . or are to short and pull when fully turned . i wound up using some off a ford truck on mine that are longer .
When I did the Granada swap on my 54, I used Earls fittings and their stainless hoses. These are the fittings: Adapter # 989543 (AN3 to 3/8-24 - 3/16 brake line) Banjo # 997634 (7/16) Banjo Bolt # 977522 (7/16-24 - fits the caliper) You will also need crush washers for sealing
I also used AN3 x 16 inch hose, but you should measure for length. The adapter noted above is for the hose to regular 3/16 hard line.
Would one of these work? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1975-1976-1...Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cd096fbdc&vxp=mtr or http://www.ebay.com/itm/1969-1970-1...Parts_Accessories&hash=item5654d23205&vxp=mtr
I used Speedways AN to 45 degree adapters and 18 inch long SS hose. I couldn't find a hose long enough. I used a banjo on the caliper, and the hose is in a big S shape. I have full travel up and down, and turning both ways.
Hey there OLE DON , YES its important to have the hoses a little longer for those reasons AND so that when on a jack and the lower arms drop to full extent the hoses dont stress at the fittings too. Other than that i have found this a very easy and good conversion to DB's , cheers RK57
