Model A rebirth..

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by flt-blk, Dec 18, 2005.

  1. FLT-BLK is back

I took my truck off the road after coming home from the Pileup
last year with 15psi oil pressure. Went through the motor and
had it running again in Jan. The rebuild was not right and in
less than 600 miles I developed a rod knock during the St Patrick’s
day parade when I had 5 Dallas Derby Devil girls on my truck :D

I got really pissed and parked the truck for 9mo. so it could think
about what it had done. Last month I finally got over my anger
and sent the motor to a new shop I trust. Now it is home and time
    for a rebirth.

I should be driving her for Christmas. Here are a couple shots for
    Inspiration.

  11. Frankie,
Yea 54 buick, I saw them at a swap and they reminded me of a girlfriend I had once.

    Dirty,
I'm thinking Nailhead or Caddy for the Aquamino.

And as for you Bump, where the hell were you Sat night????????

Damn hardware store is closed or I would have the drill on it tonight seeing
what kind of oil pressure I get.

About time! Let me know if you need help with the breakin miles...With all thouse other cars around there you might not have enough time to break it in properly.

Still one of my favorite pics!!!

I will never forget the pass I made in front of DeadTown holding 3rd gear as long as I could. I didn't think we were ever gonna get stopped. Too much fun man!

    Trucks get all the glory:(

  18. Yea I was really dissapointed when the motor started
knocking. I was going down an on ramp trying to impress
the chick in the pass seat when the truck pitched sideways
after grabbing 3rd.. It didn't used to do that. :D I was
really digging the new cam when it started thumping.

Good thing I pulled it apart when I did, it could have been
catastrauphic, we found several things "not right".

    Outlaw,
I may run down to Austin to break it in and pick up those
    springs.

We're getting the TZ suite ready for your Starbird adventure and I'll have a spot for you to park that truck in the shop.

  24. Nice garage collection of rides....

  25. The lizard still lives, his tail is getting shorter though.

The gas tank is a home made piece, 18gal, baffles, sump,
    etc.

And Rashy, for the record, I was in posession of mine
    before you. :p

Thank you everyone for the comments, I had no idea so
many people knew my little jalopy.

Where is the tank at? Any pics of it? I want to try and make a usable bed for my rpu project, so I didnt really want the tank in he bed. I could use the stock tank, but that might be a hassle with the dash. Do you have any pictures of your dash too?

Yeah but you cheated by finding one local.

Takes all the sport out of it!

The gas tank is in the back, what looks like a rolled pan is the gas tank.
attached are a couple close up's.

For the dash I cut out the back of the gas tank and bolted it back in.
The top of the origonal gas tank is held in with Dzus fastners so I can access
    the wiring and hanging pedals.

You can't drive one as much as I do and not have a couple timing tags rivited
    to the header panel. :D

  29. Progress Report:

I have 50psi oil pressure with a hand drill.....Priming complete
Flywheel, clutch, transmission all bolted up
Changed clutch master cylinder, should be easier to push now.

I need to clean the rails and firewall and should stab the motor tomorrow.
    Should be driving by Friday.

Edit: Wait a minute.....THEM party at my house Tuesday, maybe I drive tomorrow :)
