    Hello all new to the sight my name is jerry, and I wish I new about this long ago could have used all this great info long ago! Glad to ba here now and look forward to your help in the future... thanks old lady for heading me in the right direction......

    Thanks all, Retro its the stock y block with straight pipes... low, slow, and loud ! lol gotta let johnny law whos commin..cant wait to install the flame throwers!

    I really like the sound of a Y block too . They have that special sound , something like the flathead has .
    Sorry to say I am replacing mine because I want a lot more than the Y block can give me for the money . Still the Y block is a strong pulling engine . I still have the Y block in my 55 backed up with dual Cherry Bombs right now . When I drop my 302 in , it will be backed up with 2 new 24" Cherry Bombs or New dual Smithys . I will test both mufflers out when I have my engine on a test stand to see which I like best .

    Hello Jerry, and welcome. nice chop! I have a 54 coupe that I chopped. I also used a 49-50 ford back window makes for a smooth line. You will fined alot of knowledgeable people here as I have found.
