Hey everyone, i just joined the group so i thought i would introduce my self. My name is Flattop Dan, from Denver, colorado. I got a 64 f100 that i have owned for 17 years now. I have been my daily driver for all of them. I also have ( or i should say my girl has because it is hers, i just get to work on it) a 55 Fairlane that we are putting a 390 and a c6 in from a 63 Galaxie. The original 272 decided to die and to make the car a little more reliable for her and our 3 kids for a daily driver we chose to go with the 390. I am planning on taking the 272 y-block and building a strocker out of it and replacing the 302 in my truck with it. Glad to find this group. Hope everyone has a great day.
thanks for the welcome guys. i am taking pics, but it is going alot easier that i had expected. just need the ****** to move forward.
welcome to the group, lots of good info here , my wife made me buy my 55 and named it so i tell people its hers , she just lets me drive and work on it .
Flattop , welcome to the group ! The 390 will wake the car up very well ! I also looked into building a stroked 292 . There are a lot of cubes for the price . John Mummerts prices are very reasonable when you see what you get in his stroker kits . It's a much better kit with better quality parts compared to what other stroker kits offer . John does have high quality parts as well to build a nasty running car ! I can't wait to see and hear the engine when you get it built . You will have to take a video and post on You tube for all of us to drool over ! OK since your name is Flattop , is that because of your hair ? I use to where then back in the 50's and 60's until I got older ! Jim
thanks for the info and the welcome retro jim. i do know his products and have been all over is site for some time now. as soon as i can get the funding together i will definitly go that route and take pics and vids for all to see. but since i am unemployed right now with 3 kids it kind of takes a toll an the fun hot rod projects. we took our youngest daughter out of daycare just to help fund the 390 project cause we are loosing the family car at the end of the month and figured the fairlane would be a great replacement for that. So no my name doesnt came from a hair style. i have worn a flattop in the past but it actually comes from trucking. i was a truck driver for 17 years before i stopped to live a dream out of buildin hot rods with a so called friend of mine. But when i was trucking, all i talked about and drove were flattop peterbilts. so htas where the name comes from. trucking.
