hi guys, just signing in as instructed. name's brian, from easton mass. i've been reading here for quite a while but decided to sign up in case i had a question that needed answering. here's a pic (i hope) of my 32 as it sits so far, got a good lot of work to go, but it's something. i keep it in my girlfriend's mother's garage, which let me tell you is a really wonderful idea if anyone is looking for a good place to store a rusty truck carcass. mother-in-laws LOVE truck carcasses. anyways thanks for having me and if anyone in MA needs help moving or lifting anything or whatever, feel free to give me a shout, if i can i'll help.
Greets from another new guy in MA. I live down in Dudley (CT border), but I go out to your area almost every year for the Civil War Reenactment at Borderlands State Park. I mostly work on AD series Chevy Trucks, but my dad is working on a 32 Model "B" roadster, and one of our friends just bought a partially rodded 32 Pickup. If you are looking for any parts or help feel free to drop us a line. Dad's a stock/resto kinda guy, but he's got lots of connections with the rodder crowd out this way. Have you ever been to the N.E. Summer Natls. in Worcester? If not, you need to get that B-Bucket rollin and get out here. They allow open headers from Green Hill Park to Downtown and have burnouts in Johnson Tunnel out in front of Police Headquarters. I've been out of the scene for a few years. Wife, house, kids, hobbies and of course that "work" thing have kept me busy and my poor 52 has been a lawn ornament, but I'm determined to get it rebuilt and moblie again this year. Looks like you've got a lot of work ahead of you though. What are you planning to use for frame and drivetrain? Stock, Old School, or hiTech? I'm starting a frame swap on my truck to a 91 S10 4X4 with the 4.3L, front diff, auto, and Xfer yanked out and replaced with a 1967 283 SB and a 3 or 4 speed standard. It's kinda the opposite of what everybody else is doing (350/Auto/TPI/computers/etc...), but it's what I want. Keep in touch and enjoy our balmy NE winter. Regards, SwampYankee
swamp yankee: you said you were out of the scene for a while, but if you were at the summer nationals this past summer i was there showing my daily driver, green (bedliner) jeep CJ7 on 38.5" swampers, it was parked near the burnouts you may have seen it if you were there. i go to most shows during the summer, i have my girlfriend conned into thinking it's me taking her somewhere if we go to a car show, so this past year we were at the summer nats, rockabilly rumble, alter boys, tierods, and a few other smaller ones. i'm going to make the frame for the 32, either 2x3 or 2x4, i cut up the stock one and sold it for 35 bucks at the scrapyard (it was a bigass dumptruck) i've been trying to keep the budget super tight, so for the motor i got an 89 blazer real cheap with no title, yanked the drivetrain, and junked the truck. junkyards pay so much for steel now you can usually break even or turn a profit even after you strip out what you want. i'm using the 89 lower end with 73 camaro heads i got off one of my other cars (went to aluminum on that one) tranny is an NV4500, which is a super heavy duty 4 speed with a granny low first gear, out of an 86 (?) one ton 2wd chevy truck. it's big and will probably end up riding in the cab with me, but it was free and will never break. thanks for the warm welcome, BC
