Rocky, don't forget to make a hinge on that seat so you can put a large cooler underneath for the PBR!

Jeff, not sure if I'm gonna do the rear of the car for a seat. Still up in the air. But that is a great idea! Didn't think of it!

Ha! F it! Might as well right? Could be fun to cut the car up. I spent 2 years of my life getting it running. So I might as well keep something from it.

Eric, I didn't do anything more than take the grille off and look at the horrible bondo job and how they are bent from not having the proper core support holding the front together. I took the carpet out because it got drenched from the rains we had a few weeks ago and found the frankenstien job that was done there too with what appears to be street sign metal.

Ron, good jab but I don't even have directions to namby-pamby land. All I did was drop my head a bit when I saw all the horrible **** that the last guy did. One of my friends suggested driving to the guys house just to punch him in the face because of all the "get it sold" work that this guy did.

Don't feel bad. I've bought some turds in my day as well. I'm glad you've accepted the challenge to fix the last guys' bad work and build the car right. That takes a lot of courage.

Here's a tiny bit of advice, if you don't mind. Keep the car running. Don't take it apart to the point that it is not driveable. You'll need to do some careful planning to achieve this goal, but trust me it's worth the trouble.

Many, many projects like yours get stalled...and eventually abandoned...by a newbie trying to fix all the problems at once.

Take one problem area at a time, fix it completely and then move on to the next.

In your case, your first order of business should be to fix the leaks....while you can still drive the car. Then fix the rusty floors using new patch panels, not the floor section from a donor car. Keep the front seat anchors functional so you can immediately reinstall the front seat, should the occasion arise, and drive the car.

Then attack the front fender problem, again without disabling the car.

This is psychological as well as practical. It's easy to get discouraged in the middle of any one of the many tasks required to resurrect an old car. Being able to jump into it, fire it up and take it around the block does wonders for a dimmed outlook and tarnished enthusiasm.

Just ask me how I know this.

    :)

Rocky, I will get back with you by 10am and let you know if I can make it to get the parts.

Eric, Thank you for the advice. I will always take advice when it comes to my car. With any luck all the fluids will be back in the car soon and a new electric fan in place, letting me have the pleasure of driving it again.
