sorry if these links have been posted before. hemi powered items 454 powered snow blower looked like some interesting stuff to me. hope you agree.
272 Y block. Most of the cam is still stuck in there. It does better in the garden than it did in the car
The original Irwindale Dragstrip in Cali had a 392 Hemi block welded to a pole,& cemented into the ground. It was right in front of one of the concession stands,& all the condiments were in stainless buckets,in all 8 cyls. Wished I had taken a picture of that.
i think it was the folks the owned the strip in keokuk iowa , had a hemi motor for a mailbox.. it was just across the road from the strip anyway.. always wanted to have it when i was a kid...
If I ever get rich (which means I'll have more time than I do now, and the $$ to do stupid **** like this) I'm gonna take the perfectly good but underpowered and undersized 264-inch Nailhead I have and build an electric generator with it. Frame with a radiator and early grille shell, I-beam axle and cool early style wheels will make up the trailer (grille pointed backwards when the thing is being towed). Dress up the Nailhead with a 3x2 intake and some nice valve covers, generator, the whole works. Behind the engine will be a vintage cowl, mounting the gauges and controls. A moon tank below that. Then, at the end of the bellhousing will be an agricultural PTO electric generator. I don't know what I'll use it for, but it'll be the coolest generator in the neighborhood. -Brad
I've seen irrigation pumps made from car engines. I've used my Jeep and a strap around the rear tire as a rope tow/ski lift.
Link to V8 chain saw video check this out its bad *** http://www.compfused.com/directlink/154 man I love that thing. bret
Thats the first thing I thought of when I saw this post. Very nice, Like a samurai sword thru ****er.
Air compressor of course.Do a search for Gordon Smith of Bowling Green, Ky. They made a practical kit to convert your Ford model A, which was inexpensive and reliable to a portable self powered air compressor.Special head and add a unloader and receiver-- used rad/grille/hood and fuel tank as original.Thousands were made and the company I think is still in buisness but now more sophisticated. Schramm of Pennsylvania used a variety of engines for the same purpose but by the late 40's they had a beauty made from a Ford 85 HP v8--later engines were I-H 6 cyl gas,6 cyl diesel, and v8 Cat like the 3208. I have seen flathead Chrysler 8, Leroi v8,Hercules flathead 6, and Ford 351W used for this. The 351W conversion was by Grimmersmitt and was used a lot on tire service trucks. You have to witness the running of these "half engines" to believe how smooth they run. I always wanted to build one from a VW opposed 4.Light, portable, compact, and reliable but wouldn't a Corvair be cl***y or maybe a run out Lycoming aircraft or it's military stationary brother. Just dreamin'
I went to school at Parks College in Cahokia, IL. In the engine run area there was a 28V GPU trailer that used a Chrysler Industrial 354 hemi for power. I always wanted to back a truck up to it and pull it away. How cool would it be to have Chrysler Industrial script valve covers?
