Well, I am going to pick up a 56 Ford this weekend so I figure I better join this group to get up to speed. I have been into cars since I was 12 although mainly GM stuff. I have been here on the HAMB for a while now as well although rarely post on the main board. Enough about me, moving on to the car... Story on the car is that it was originally bought by a guy that I work with's uncle. His dad bought it from his uncle in the late 80's and then his brother got it when his dad p***ed away about 10 years ago. The car is an unrestored 56 Fairlane Club Sedan Thunderbird Special. It has 82,000 original miles, original paint, original interior other than that the seats have been recovered and has been stored inside it's whole life. In case you can't tell, I am pumped about coming across this deal and being able to bring it home. I am looking forward to being part of this group and learning more from you all. Jeff
Good tastes in cars. Welcome to HAMB from NorCal. The people here in the forum are great resource and fun to read.
Nice car! I hope you don't have any plans for it that involve disturbing the exterior even slightly. It's gorgeous! Sits a little high, though. Just sayin'. Welcome to our humble club. I think you'll enjoy it here - as long as you don't mind an un-asked-for opinion or two...
Thanks for the comments guys. Only plans I have right now go along with the "sits a little high" comment. I am a traditional guy in that sense though meaning I like traditional forms of lowering so it won't be anything drastic. Other than that, I don't have any real plans right now other than to enjoy it.
Good score! That car is gorgeous. Welcome to the group. Lots of good info in the group. Search box has been awesome for past discussions as well. Enjoy that car! Rocky
Jeff , Welcome to the best group on the HAMB ! I am so jealous right now as I see that beautiful Red 56 ! You are so very lucky to have come across such a gem ! They just don't come around like that too often and I guess you were in the right place at the right time . I am sure you have a nice garage to keep her in . An all original 56 like yours is hard to find . I see you also said it's the Thunder Bird Special as well ! I hope you can get a lot more pictures to show us when you do get her home . Congrats once again on your beautiful 56 Fairlane ! Jim
Thanks again for all the comments. And, this is definitely a situation of being in the right place at the right time. There are a few more pics on my profile page under Misc. And, it will have a nice place to stay inside.
That is a beautiful car, thank you for showing it to us and welcome to the group. Hope you enjoy the 56 and this group as I do.
welcome to the the group. nice ride there. lots of good info here . have to get us some more pics. keep her inside when posible , seems they like to take flight sometimes.
Welcome to the group, and nice score! If you are going to lower the front, check the group history for the thread on using Ford Aerostar springs; many of us have done it, and we have had great results (all for around $70 brand spanking new). If you have any questions feel free to ask.
Slam it and roll! And maybe a set of lancers, and getting rid of the mirrors, and and and. ahaa Nice car! REallllly nice car! I dig it a lot. Greetings from the circle city
What a perfect "canvas" to start with or just leave it alone! Nice car, wish mine looked that good! Welcome from Oregon to the group.... great bunch of car nuts here with loads of great information with many experts to gleen that information from. Just ask a question and you will get lots of answers to make a choice.
Guy's I got to see this car close up yesterday when Jeff was in St. Louis to pick it up. I want to tell you that it is everything the pictures say it is. Clean as a whistle and twice as sharp. He found a diamond in the rough for sure. Jeff had his two young boys with him and we had dinner with another HAMB member. Want to let you know Jeff will be a great ***et to this group. Have a safe trip home Jeff!
Well, I got her home safely! I can't wait to take her for the first drive! It was great meeting you Terry and hopefully we will catch up again soon.
