Damn , 160 bones to the door !

I have the Tri Y headers I am going to use with some adjustments but that is sure really tempting .
I just might be changing my mind for 160 bones to the door ! They really look well made as well . :D

If you haven't chopped on the Tri-Y's yet they will fit 63-68 Falcon 289 and 64 1/2-69 SBF Mustangs should be able to sell them EZ.

Yea but the prices aren't that cheap as Headman .

Jeff , they came off a 65 Mustang with a 289 and factory 4 speed trans . Had to put a small dent in the one tube to let the linkage move but they are still very good condition .

I would like to use them but then I will still have to "Make Then Fit " ! Don't know what they could sell for but if I can get enough for them I would highly consider selling then to buy a new set of Headman headers .

If anyone is interested in them let me know and I will send you a picture of them . They come with the collectors and 2 loud chrome mufflers !

Jim,put them on your local craigslist maybe you won't have to ship and you can get cash in hand and reach the Mustang Falcon audience, there seems to be a fair amount of early Falcon guys here too on the HAMB.

Unfortunately the 88400 will not work with the 351W. I include this comment in case someone else also thinks of buying a set for this application. The engines greater width just doesn't provide the same space for the headers as the 302.

I also did not pay close attention when I ordered the 88400, that they have 1 1/2" primaries. In my case, the 351W is a clone, with over 400cu and high flow Edelbrock heads (2.08 intake valves), that need 1 5/8". I tried modifying a pair of Hedman 88650 headers (351W Ranchero, Mustang, Torino with similar engine bay layout), but that did not work out either (the 55/6 engine bay apparently is shorter creating a firewall clearance challenge). And as many others experienced, previous calls to the various manufacturers produced no positive results. So I am still looking and likely will need a custom set made.

    Note to Retro Jim:
When I modified the headers using a mig welder, it was not pretty, took a lot of grinding, and easy to blow through the 16 ga tubing. I then tried some cutting and tacking and took the headers to a pro with a tig. While his welds looked great, there was a lot of material inside the tubes (wherever there was any gap) that would obstruct flow, and no way to get in there and clean it up. So it is clear you need a hydraulic pipe bender and tig for a professional show quality and top performance.

If I was still living in MD, I would come to you to make me a set. But I retired to the sunshine, and haven't found anyone here that does a nice job (seems all the good builders are in CA). Any chance you will be moving anytime soon?

    Jeff,
Sent the 88400 back to Summit days after receipt; not even a good candidate for modification. With Stock heads; cannot answer that as I do not have a set. Maybe someone else will chime in.
