I have been watching this group for a couple of weeks. I am very pleased to say that I am now a member. I have a 1953 Crestline Victoria that is a decent driver. Vicky, as I call it is still a 6 volt positive ground 3 speed with overdrive flathead V8. I also have a 1952 Customline 2 door. I am in the process of bringing it back to life with a 5.0 and 4R70W out of a 1997 Explorer. My only constraints on getting it alive is time and money. I hope to see some of you and your cars in the future.
Welcome to the group! I am a new guy here too and this seems like a great group of guys. Sounds like you have a couple nice cars.
Good to have ya here! I think everyone here is short on time and money, its the nature of this car world we got ourselves in. Need pics!
welcome to the group brother, we're all in the same boat up here in washington too. I only need a couple hundy to get my heads back from the machine shop, and frankly I'm not srue how I'm gunna manage it. but i'll figure it out. hang in there bro. we're all in this together. ... oh yeah, great group of guys on this... uh... group. lots of great knowledge to be found here.
Hello and welcome from frosty Michigan. Nice cars, good taste! I'm kinda partial to Victorias too. Ron
I have never been accused of being a photographer, and I cannot even spell computer. However I did attempt to add some pictures in my album ***led Vicky. Sometime in the near future I will start an album for the 52. If the pictures make you laugh, I hope you are laughing with me and not at me.
welcome , good buch here and lots of knowledge. the money and time thing i thought i had w****d up. someone else is in this boat?
re: If the pictures make you laugh, I hope you are laughing with me and not at me. Hey, I usually laugh with others - until I find out they're laughing at me! That is one great looking Vicky, I love the stance! Nothing at all to laugh at there, it's a beauty.
Me too, Ron, especially when they hear me mumble, "righty-tighty, not loosy-goosy" and stuff like that...
Welcome to the group! I like yer Vick for sure. This is truly the best group of folks you'll meet on the HAMB.
Welcome to the group ! We all seems to have enough knowledge to help each other out with most any problems that do come up , if not we will figure it out one way or the other ! So if you have any questions about your build , just ask and we will all help you out ! We also have the same problem as you do too ! Too many projects and not enough money ! But we all seem to figure out some way of getting the job done and the project built in the end . Then we all get to go out and play like a damn teenager all over again ! Jim
Has that nice simple clean look to the car which I always did like better than the chromed up flashy ones . That flatty looks really sweet ! Wonder what cam is hiding in there ? Jim
Very nice car! I wish my engine would look like yours! Mine went too hot and now i have to see if i can save it...
Cam is stock, the mods I made to the engine are listed below. Did away with Road Draft, installed a PCV system. Installed Buick V6 rear main seal's. Installed one piece front seal. Offy two carb intake, actually only one carb working. Second carb has plate between it and manifold, also has fuel line blocked off. ( I kinda like just turning the key to make it run plus get 20mpg). My planned mods are to convert the generator to an alternator. Of course convert to 12 volt, and convert to electronic ignition. I am also working on spiffing up the tail lights. If my plan works out I will share. If it doesnt work out, well I will have had fun trying.
Man that brings back some memories. I had a 53 Vicky way back in the 60's. It was even the same colour. nice car!
