Saw this steering wheel on the main board, asking $1,000. Is he delusional or is it really worth that much? He's been on the hamb for 4½ years and has only posted to sell things.
I'll have to pull the wheel from my 56 Fairlane off the garage wall.

Twenty-some posts - all cl***ifieds. Kinda makes one wonder what hobby is being supported? I don't know what a nice wheel would cost but seems that one is hardly good for a rebuildable core. Maybe we're missing something?

I wish him luck selling it, but it's more than I'd tackle...and I'm pretty brave when it comes to the pursuit of lost causes.

Is the infamous "anniversary" wheel I have heard about that celebrated Ford's 50th anniversary? I thought I saw one of those in NOS or restored shape going for a couple of hundred...but come on, a grand for a steering wheel? he'll be sittin' on that for a while to come. :D

Those are accessory wheels, if they're NICENICENICE they'll bring a few grand, thats probably a $500 wheel. I want one for my car, just some other time. They're also a good thing for a resto, just like a gl*** hood, on a skyliner or a sunliner. Adding all the extra **** you can, that can't be do***ented.

Man, I'd say he's delusional and it may be worth that to someone that thinks they really need it.

Okay i just looked at the photos of the steering wheel and that dude is just crazy. I wouldn't give more than $20 for that steering wheel and thats saying that I had lost my mind just to pay that much.

I guess if I leave my 56 unattended, I should throw my coat over the NOS steering wheel that a PO installed.:D

I hung my 56 steering wheel on the wall in the garage, so I don't have to worry about hiding it when I park.
Now I'm running this steering wheel and it was under $300, much nicer than that $1,000 crusty, broken steering wheel.

I dunno, I guess if money was no point I'd think about that POS wheel. But I got this one and paid a heckuva lot less than the asking price for that busted up wheel. I think it's a heckuva lot nicer too. Maybe someday it'll go in the Vicky. Maybe.

This is a pretty fair price, and if money was no object I'd own it.

It doesn't matter if you like it or not, its rare. Rare things generate more cost than more common things. That steering wheel maybe be rough, but I don't see why it isn't restore-able.

Good point. Guess it boils down to what we like & what we're willing to pay for it.

Also! I was thinking about running a lincoln wheel on my ford, if I ever stumbled across one. I'll never be able to justify an accessory wheel on my car, or afford one for that matter!

I think a good alternative to these expensive rare accessory wheels is the '53/'54 Mercury accessory wheel, for some reason i don't really understand they're relatively cheap (they're rare too), i bought a useable one for $ 300 some years ago, currently a NOS one is on ebay for $ 1500, cheap in comparsion to K and crestliner wheels. The craziest auction i've seen on ebay was some years ago when a '49 Mercury accessory wheel was sold for over $ 4000!
