i dont need them either. but since i still have my drum spindle's. and i know a guy that makes stuff for a good price . i would take the spindle to him. he makes them for the t-bucket sraight axles to metric gm calipers for 20 bucks a set. there would be more metal used and a little more work so it would cost a little more. but the guy is cheap on his stuff he dose. check out his prices at www.eztbucket.com

There was a post on the main board last night with pictures where they modified a disc brake bracket used on stock cars to convert to disc,it save a bunch of bucks and you will get the big rotors also about $200 in parts over the counter, wish I would have saved the link

i seen that and thats what got me to thinking about this. because this would be direct bolt using granada rotors with gm metric calipers. why buy brakets and modify them if for a few bucks more your can get what you need.it would probably be around 50 bucks or so a set

if i have a spindle to take with me or precise measurments. what i was gona do is mock up a rotor on it and take the wholes thing so i get the caliper in the right place. i been doing more thinking on this. late model explorers have slip off rotors and are cheap. next time i take some off at work ill bring one home and see if it will fit right
over the original hub and not have to take them off . or a jeep cherokee rotor which are slip offs also. ray bug, you live close enough to either ride up there with me or go up there your self if you take one off. anyone got there kingpin spindles already off there car? or dose anyone know if the backing plates are the same for the balljoint and king pin spindles?

Already have disc brakes front and back . I going out tomorrow to the local pick-n-pull they sent me a e-mail that they got in a Granada and Mercury Versi. Going to go pull the disc brakes and Mercury rearend. Last time front brakes were 60.00 and hope to get rearend for under 200.

I would love disc brakes but the $500 for a kit can go else where right now .
If you make a bracket for the caliber you still have to change the damn spindles and they are $200 and up !
I learned on drum brakes and raced on drum brake so all I am going to do is use power brake to help out .
If someone can come up with a disc brake kit cheap enough I am in for one !

I just finished making my own brackets. I bought some rough flame cut caliper brackets for $15 at a flea market. I modified them and added some other reinforcements from 3/8 bar stock. Rotors are 70 chevelle. Calipers 79 Caprice. It'll be a few months before the car runs and I get to try them out. There are a couple of pics here.

What did you do to get GM rotors to fit a stock Ford spindle ?
I understand the GM caliber thing but not the rotors ! What year rotors and what wheel bearings did you use to make tis all work ?

A friend was puitting new rotors on his 70 Chevelle and gave me the old ones. They bolted right on. I used my old Ford bearings.

alot of the rotors gm and ford take the same brgs. when you buy the big brake m2 kits they ask which wheel bolt pattern. the mid 80 monte carlo and the granada are the same brgs.

There's a pair of caliper brackets on e-bay (#390282901749) that uses '82-'87 Lincoln Continental rotors and GM pickup rotors on original '54-'56 spindles. Never heard of the people selling them but I went to their e-bay store and they have kits for a lot of vehicles.

This is how I did the brakes on my Falcon. Vintage Venom makes a kit where you separate the drum and just use the hub. Then they use standard Mustang rotor to slip over it. Their caliper bracket bolts on the back of the spindle like everything else. Not difficult to build with some engineering.

One issue is they use a space to move the wheel out and to place the caliper in the right place for the rotor. This allows late model wheels to line up properly. Anyways, when I did my front drums I was thinking about doing something similar. My kit has 13" cobra R brakes but they also have a kit for standard Mustang brakes.
