1952-59 Ford new guy

    hey everybody new guy from north carolina here. Just bought a 54 four door crestline with the y-block. got a sweet deal but the seller wants the hood hinges, any leads on a pair?

    Welcome...but don't let him have the hinges. They'll be very expensive to replace unless you get really, really lucky!

    1952-54 Ford and Mercury hood hinges interchange,they do show up on ebay but don't be surprised to see them bring $250+ for a used pair.Rebuilts that are beefed up will run $450 a pair.

    Welcome from Flintville Tennessee. Im parting a 54 but already sold the one good hinge for $50! Why does he want to keep the hinges? It appears the design leads to rusting out or breakage.

    Auto-Loc has a tilt hood kit around $250 I have seen on 50's Ford trucks that really is slick,there is a post on the main board about a day ago showing a tilt hood install on a '55 F-100 with pictures and it was all DIY parts.

    tnrotter he wants to keep the hinges for his personal 54 that is missing hinges. that tilt hood would be pretty cool. maybe i will just leave the damn thing off LOL

    had my hood off for months while working on the new engine...great airflow and cooling to the engine :)

    I saw a write up on a tilt hood that used BMW parts and was checking one out in a salvage yard about a month ago, also a Buick in the mid 80s had a forward tilting hood and could possibly be used for parts.
