OK, I got the car back from getting the brakes inspected and updated, new shocks all around, and Aerostar springs installed! The ride is definitely much better! Next up will be to install seat belts, turn signal switch, and deal with the damn play in the steering box. I'm still hunting for a good mechanic to rebuild the box as I'm not confident enough to rebuild myself, though the actual parts seem simple enough (famous last words). The first picture is the before and the last two are after the springs have been installed.
And I forgot to mention that I can't stand the whitewall out on the front tires. I plan to flip those around...
I drove my 53 for 20 years with 2 coils removed. Installed Areostar springs and new gas shocks last year and it now rides and drives like a new car!
I like white letters out myself but if I were to use those tires I would have to go with white walls out.
I'm in favor of the whitewalls out. Gives the car some cl***! Blackwalls makes a car look ghetto and cheap.... Sorry I think 50's cars should have 2 1/2 inch whitewalls. Just my 2 cents. The front end drop looks good. Now bring the back down with some blocks (about 3 inches).
whitewal out. just my .02. i think in my photo album i have a side profile of what they look like with whitewalls
did the shop that done the work have anything to say about swaping the a-star springs into your car? or did they not care and just done it?
