Dual carb install on flatty...

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by rat bastad, Dec 21, 2005.

  1. Guys last nite I finally bolted on my dual 97s on a polished Thickstun PM7 that I got from Vaphead !!

I first dialled in each carb on a single 2bbl intake to set floats, check for leaks (they ARE 97s hehe) and set air fuel mixtures.

Then I bolted on the PM7 dialled in the carbs. Seems to have smoothed out the L100's lumpiness and got the idle down to around 850 but I think the throttle shafts will have to be rebushed. coz I need too much spring to return em to proper idle.

Heres what it looks like now....

What are you using for plug wire looms? They look pretty clean. Also, who built those headers?

can do, pm me and I will sort you out. they are available for about 20-40 aud ( work on 70% of that for USD) but are heavy so would cost $$$ for shipping.

Haven't used either box but did hear that XY Falcon is a better built box and would work in pretty much the same application. Heresay only FWIW.

Forgot my manners. Didn't even say how nice that motor is looking. Got it registered yet?

To clarify my post above, just thinking the shipping is gonna be the big cost, so might as well ship the best available part. Costs the same either way.

    Kick *** Rat!!!
Looks awesome... Hows it running? Did you install a PCV under that dual??
Good job. Now run it and get that thing dirty!

  16. Nah not regoed yet ....but it will be !!

I built the headers dude, my first go and I reckon they came ok ok he he. Petejoe I did fit a PCV under the intake as mentioned. Seems to run well....just ironing out the bugs as usual...

The plug wire looms are polished S/S but I grabbed 'em that long ago cant remember from where. Speedway maybe?

Need to add another wiper and a few other little "things" then I'm gonna get it registered and DRIVE.

Thanx for the positive comments all....

Looks good! Got a PM-7 hanging on the wall for my '40...

Is that a Mallory Unilite dizzy? If so, have heard rumours they don't care for the looms (as many other electronic ignitions either)...let us know how it works out.

It could be on my car! Nice and congrats on all the hard work.

  19. Ita a Mallory dual point but I removed the secndary point and used the primary as a trugger for the MSD. MSD igns dont have a problem with spiral /supression wires in the S/S looms, only the solid core type wires do.

Mine runs real good , no hiccups, burps, farts, stumbles.....nadda.

    hope that helps....

Beauty.....The only thing I would suggest or give thought to would be to paint the lower engine a contrasting color. Not as much red on the eyes. But congrats on a great looking motor and car.
