So I just got me a 53!! Nice little job customline two door sedan, inline six with three on the tree, Right now it has a rubber rake with Arostare front springs, Gonna change that to a tail dragger, gonna french the headlights and bring them in about a inch so they dont stick out as much, tail lights are going to be 55 chebby or something similer, mild Kustom.

Good to be back behind the wheel of a old ford once again! :)

    Excellent!

Be sure to take pix of the head light mods. I've not seen this one before, but have often thought it would work out well and eliminate the slight "bug eye" look when the stock rings are frenched in.

FWIW: I've seen '55 Chevy rear lights in a '52 - '54 Ford and wasn't too impressed. The flow of the fenders was lost making the car look shorter and the styling "confused".

These cars are a bit "stubby" looking and need all the visual length they can get, which is why the Oldsmobile tail lights of various vintages work out so well styling-wise.

Screenz' Packard tail lights also look great, but required m***ive rework of the rear quarters. The Lincoln tail lights in the Pete Angress Ford also looked great, but like Screenz Packards, required major surgery...

How 'bout '51 Olds, using the complete matching rear quarter section for the graft, which was the treatment on the Angress Ford while it was still owned by Ray Moore...

    or frenched '50 Pontiac...

This is not to criticize your '55 Chevy idea, but just to point out some seldom-used alternatives that will work well with the original Ford styling and will be unique at the same time.

    Hope this helps.

    :)

Packard taillights sounds good! I bet you have '57 Packard taillights. I will graft '55 Lincoln rear quarters on my '53 when i have them. Will get them in june, they've made a long journey from the states to sweden and now to germany. I also look forward to see how SlmLrds Packard taillights and Roachs chevy taillights will turn out! Can't wait to see pics...

Yeah the french will be kool, I will try and get pics as I go, but all I have right now is my nephs cell phone for the pics.

As to the tail lights, I am not dead set on the 55 chebys, but that is kinda what I want, I just do not like the donky $%# look of the stock ones, I will have to reserch tail lights and see what catches my Eye.
I am able to do the body work, and redoing the area of the tail lights to my liking will not be that hard.

Here is a pic from the previus owner, but still looks that same right now.

Still, I am able to drive it every day!!!

Now the two mods I am going to do are just the tip of the iceberg, many smaller mods must be done in order to get the right look, subtle mods to make the over all appearance look good, the bumpers will be close hauled, the grill is going to be inside the mouth with a different teeth ***embly and so forth, skirts, 57 dogdish hubcaps with maybe trim rings.

A mild Kustom is what I have in mind......Roach.
