Well, with the help of my 18 monthold grandson (and maybe his dad) I have downloaded my pics. I have been busy during the long cold winter here in the great white north. My friend Pex is showing me up. We have a small wager to see who is on the road first. I may owe him a looney.
Blaaze-there is no doubt your going to be a loser. hows that for smack talk. your truck looks great and your moving in the right direction. bonneville maybe?
Blaaze, Nice lookin' truck. Tell us what you are doing with the area between the back of the cab and front of the bed? Those rear fenders are just fantastic. Keep the pictures flowing.
Donnda, the box will be extended with sheet metal that I have had bent to shape. The bed rail is tube to be welded to the sides. The fenders are a oops. I bought the box and then ordered 10" wheels and big rubber. They don't fit!!!!!! So I am attempting to widen them 3". I am a neewbie welder. 1 year experience so don't look to close to the welds. I realy lucked out on the truck body. As you can see in the after sand blasting pics there is zero rust and minimal body damage. Just applied third coat of high solids to fenders, hood, doors. Should be enough. Also ordered new gl***, weather stripping and any trim pieces available. Still lots of mechanicals to go.
Blaaze, Nice truck. How did you tilt the cab? I am interested in doing this to my 39 but I am not sure how to deal with the steering. Do you have any pictures of the steering and the tilt? This is going to be a great truck when you get it done.
Hi mhuntley. Sorry to mislead you but I had to give up on the tilt. Too many issuses to resolve especially the steering. The cab is bolted to a cradle that is hinged but now the cradle is bolted to the frame. A buddy of mine pointed out that when the skirts and step plates are installed you would not see the engine or work on it. So plan "B" the seats will tip ahead to check oil and minor things or remove them to get serious.
Thanks for getting back to me. I want to stretch the cab, so I'll probably access the engine from under the back seat. Right now I am working on ideas. I hope to start on my GMC next year.
My project came with extra cab and four doors. The last owner was going to extend it and keep it on the doolie ch***is. My skills mandated to keep it simple and get it finished. Still I have been working on it two years. I sold off the unused parts to help fund the project. Good luck
Blaaze- any updates? as far as the money you owe me, its going to have to be cash. I'll drive over to pick that up as soon as i get my out of province inspection. P.S.- no small stuff, just one large will do.
i got over to blaaze's with our friend b-bop and a few others to have a look at his c.o.e. and its looking great with nice proportions as well as good metal work. i might have to go back with my camera and post some pics if he can't .LOL
Dropped in on blaaze for a surprise inspection on his c.o.e. blaaze has been making progress and is working on a pair of handbuilt rear fenders (nice work) as well as a pair of hood hinges built from flat stock. I'll go back soon and get some pictures to post.
